Check your email I have a few questions about OFP.

Thanks

Edit: The email was bounced back to me. Can you explain where to install the custom maps at? I have searched countless FAQs and can't turn up anything on it.

I have reviewed the all of the above firearms.

All but the FAMAS from theLostBrothers are compatible with T&L

Those from Docuwild will have permanent flash if you leave T&L on, so turn'em off.

The M24SWS is OK, there models from Docuwild aren't as good as those from theLostBrothers. I would even say that models for theLB are better then the original models from BIS.

They even have all the different models of the MP5 with or without silencer, folding stock and what-not.

The best all-around OFP website is the www.ofpeditingcenter.com and they have links to many more. You can find Desert/Snow/Jungle maps there. I love the Ebud's jungle Everon. All of the town have vietnamese names. You should download the Desert/Snow vehicles too. most of them look great!!

Too add weapons, Units, and vehicles just extract the zip files in your add-on folder. Most downloads will have intallation instructions in the readme file.

Im currently working on a Soviet mission called "Hind_sight_is_always_20/20" starring an Mi24 gunner. I've finished two OFP missions, but am still having problems with scripting and camera work.

My Missions is a built up Soviet airbase complete with Hangers and other added building from Gunslingers editor upgrade (a must have for mission makers). It took me awhile, but i figured out how to add SU-25 Frogfoots inside the hanger. As soon as i figure out the camera work and such, my young Soviet gunner will be talking to his girlfreind in the Hanger's office while she is typing on her computer [:)]

Thus so far the mission is farily balanced with east/west forces being about equal. The mission is tough, but possible to complete.

Other things to download for OFP are the Breifing application, that make it easier to write breifings for your missions. and the PBO extractor so you can download new missions and convert them to sqm format so you can learn how they did it in the mission editor. The Ofpeditingcenter has everything you need to learn how to script missions, get characters to do what you want them to do (such as salute, sit, surrender, get in vehicle orders, etc..) . editing snippets, custom waypoints, Triggers and on and on.

Ohh yeah, and for those who love Artillery, there are scripts where you can call in Artillery on a specified spot using your radio. you can also call in Airstrikes. With Gunslingers editor upgrade you can even add the Artillery peices to your mission.

A new expansion pack will be coming out for OFP called Resistance. It will include a new island with industrial centers and larger buildings.

Another is called Independance lost. This expansion looks a little like the VBS1 the US Marine Core uses. I hope it will include the Huey's.

You have no idea how much stuff is out there for OFP. I've even been looking out foreign fan sites that have awesome mods such as desert vehicles. If anyone is interested i'd be happy to provide a link to one German site that is really good. just give me time to find the address.

Custom maps, such as Desert Malden must be unzipped into the Worlds folder. The readme file should help.

I just bought the expansion pack and the damn thing doesn't work!!

I installed it like I've installed HUNDREDS of other things in the past, but when I open Op Flash, nothing's changed...it's still the original game with no new missions, weapons....nothing!

This is the Gold Expansion....to suppliment the original game, which I already have. I had upgraded the game with all the patches, I believe up to 1.4.

Pisses me off that the expansion doesn't work. It looked like it installed fine, but like I said, nothing changed from the original.

You should ask the people here at www.flashpoint1985.com/ you may have to wait as i did before you can post. just to be sure i'll submit your question there just in case. my username is 110.

You might need to reinstall the original game and then add the Gold upgrade. I recommend the patch 1.46 which is what i currently use. no bouncing tanks from 9mm fire.

Also try the "Avon Lady". just type Avon Lady ofp in a word search and you'll find her website. She has a FAQ that may answer a question you might have about the game.

nothing technical so far. remember that in order to access the Red Hammer campaign you have to click on the little arrow at the bottom of the campaign selection. Most of the new equipment isn't used until Red Hammer or the SP missions and they are used sparingly.

no, but one is in the works by the "modding community". This Veitnam mod and the Star Wars mod are the two im looking most forward to.

There really does need to be a half-way decent 'Nam game.

I heard if you use mods on OFP it will degrade the game to a point where you need to reinstall it clean again. Is this true? I have been playing it off and on for the last month. Pretty good game. I actually like the ability to jump in the vehicles and use stationary guns etc.

Yes Operation Flashpoint Editing Center is the MOST INFORMATIVE OFP site out there....
If you want ADDONS, Go HERE :www.operationflashpoint.cz A BUTTLOAD of addons.
the 82nd Airborne addon is excellent,...good detail on the soldiers.
(the equipment script editor utility is a must have)..you can change loadouts of any units with it in a simple line, instead of "RemoveWeapon", "AddWeapon", blah blah blah". and if you know the weapon name and magazine name of the weapon you want to use,...you can easily make it work with weapons that are not in the drop down list.

The updated HK weapon pack IS awesome, GOOD sound also.
The new Barret 50cal LOOKS better than the previous attempts,....but it still makes a ridiculous big ORANGE cloud of "blood?" whenever you hit something with it (including a vehicle)

when the Oxygen modeling utility is released, the OFP stuff is going to be INSANE

M4, did you see my reply to your other post about OFP?

we need to get the OFP'ers on this board together to trade missions/addons/ect.
I know I do more mission building than I have played the original game. and ...come to think of it, most of my missions dont have more than one or two "original" game units...ALL addons.

Libertoon,  sounds like you're into the editing thing too [:)]
Ive been working on missions where things happen as "randomly" as possible.
the one Im working on right now (although I havent yet figured out who I want the "player" to portray) has a Harrier (the addon that flys like a real jet, not like a helicopter) sitting at Malden Airbase on "Desert Malden" the base is occupied by the desert 82nd Airborne forces, and there are several empty A10s, Pavehawks, and a few NMH47s sitting on the airbase. Guards are patrolling the base, and standing in towers I have added.

A town In the south is occupied by enemy forces (I used the Iraqi tanks and APCs with the UCE EAST desert infantry units, not depicting them as Russians though..I like to tweak the Russians .sqs files to make them friendlies).
There are rag tag friendly "resistance" forces (made up of the "desert" resistance troops, and the "middle eastern" resistance units with the towel head things) patrolling around the South engaging in random skirmishes with the enemy when they happen upon each other.
Enemy transports, and UAZs cruise back and forth between towns (sometimes they get ambushed, sometimes not.)
And, there is a 6 man SEAL team equipped with custom loadouts (desert camo M4s, M4GLs, and M60) hiding out in "stealth mode" under a camo bunker in some hills toward the mid South.
Also..there are various civillian people / vehicles (.sqs modified to "WEST" so they will take enemy fire) populating pretty much ALL of the towns on the map, and traveling the roads.
WHEW!

Anyway, A US pilot (with Stars and Stripes helmet) gets in the harrier, taxis to the runway and takes off with waypoints to fly a C.A.P in the south, then come back and land at the airbase, taxi to the hanger and get out.
There are AA units wandering the south and there are AA guns around the enemy towns. (Sometimes the harrier gets shot down, and sometimes he makes it home.)
IF it is shot down, AND the pilot ejects and lives (he usually does) he will try to make his way to a rendevous point (if enemy ground units dont get him first).

This is where the SEAL team comes in, they head to the rendevous point where the pilot joins their group and is escorted outa there. When they get within a certain distance of a predetermined LZ a trigger activates an SRO pilot, and gunner back at the base who get in one of the choppers and make for the LZ. As the chopper gets close, the SEALS pop green smoke and the chopper picks em up, taking them back to the base and landing, where they all get out and walk into the hangar with their weapons slung.

Almost everything is random though, alot of other things are triggered by, say.. an enemy unit arriving at a town, (wont happen if he gets killed somewhere on the road, or happens "late" if his vehicle gets disabled and he has to walk.
The SEALS will "stay put if the pilot is killed and never makes it to the rendevous point", (or makes it back to base).

Im thinking of making the pilot wait till friendlies make enemy contact, and using a "GetPos" command to send him to their position for air cover.

For now Ive just been placing the "player" in different places, and watching things transpire (making little tweaks here and there)...HMMM, I wonder what kind of mission I could make with the player as a "war photographer" or something. His objective could be just to stay alive [:D]

to Beagles747:

If that were true then the modding community would likely die. There may however be some add-ons that might cause this, but i have not heard of any.

To Madmedic:

Cool! The AR-15.com OFP community [:)]

If i ever get my home computer hooked up, we should form an MP team. I'll be a chopper pilot M'mkay. I like the Kiowa, Cobra, and Blackhawk heli's. My landings are getting faster all the time.

If i ever finish my Desert Malden Mi24 gunner mission, i'll try to post it to one of those OFP sites. which will be awhile cause im lazy [:D]
