I wrote a much longer post in response to another thread, but it ran longer than 3500 characters. I will summarize. Sorry if I repeat myself; I am a little distracted and the beer I had for supper last night is still hurting my head.
Yes, we will win. We will win because guns equal power. Those who disarm volunteer to silence themselves, get victimized by others, and eventually get completely subjugated. They choose weakness, and they will pay the price. The criminals will accept the fee.
Because of this, those who keep their guns will naturally remain alive. Many people will see that those with guns stay alive, while those without just get targetted. Some people will obtain one. Some people will simply live as slaves to their fear, while claiming that they are the free ones because they "overcame their violent tendancies/nature". They will be victimized because they choose to submit to the fear.
Those who are antigun fear guns. Criminals wield fear like a weapon, and the gun is merely a secondary tool. Fear is used as a primary weapon for the purpose of supplying and funding illicit economies, or simply because the criminal needs to victimize because he feels powerless otherwise.
Those who understand those will address criminal behavior and causes. Those who do not will build themselves a gun free zone, which in reality is just a house of cards. A house built on purposefully being weak cannot stand. It will eventually collapse under a sufficient wind. The wind, in this case, is criminal behavior that will focus on the weak.
Guns equal power against those who victimize; they offer a real counter to determined and armed criminal behavior. Those who victimize use fear. Those who proudly claim they fear the gun, and disarm for this reason put themselves on the losing side. Those who refuse to acknowledge this will either adapt to reality when reality comes to them, or cease to exist.
There is more, but I will write it some other time.
