I know nothing about reloading .338 Ultra Mags, but at $ 2.50 a shell YOU'd better learn [:)]

I strongly recommend reloading. The brass is the most expensive part of a cartridge, and you get to use it for several loadings. I know you wanted the big shoulder stomper, but reloading allows you many options not available in factory loadings, such as lighter loads that make for more pleasant practice sessions. Come over to the [b]RELOADING[/B] forum and ask any questions that come to mind. There is a very knowledgeable bunch there. Go for it!! [:D]

Boy do I feel your pain!
Being that there are only two type of ammo on the market for this beast (that I know of, both made by Remington) I would think you'd have a hard time getting supplies. BTW, the Scirrocco FMJ rounds were significantly more accurate for me than the soft points. Let me know if you find another brand of ammo on the market. |

In 2000, Sierra began making .338 250gr BTHPM bullets with a bc of .587. They are about $18/50.
