We give them billions of dollars in aid.  What sort of return are we getting on our investment?

A few things they do for us:

1) They keep the Suez canal open.

2) They let US tourists visit the pyramids and other archeological sites.

3) They sell us some of their mil-surp rifles, pistols and ammo.

4) They export cotton that we use to make fancy shirts and sheets.

Of course, all of these things make money for them, so they'd probably be doing them anyway.

The dirty arabs would keep the canal open to the Israelis.  They are in it for the dollar, why would you suggest that keeping the Suez open is a "priveledge" that they give us?  Not the case.

Did you forget to mention that they breed the next generation of terrorists with their anti-USA propaganda?  How about their lack of assistance rounding up terrorist cells within their country?

Your last sentence sums up that they only do for us when it works for them.

The Egyptian government receives so much US aid because of the 1978 Camp David peace accords.

Here, Here!  They have no appreciation for the fact that without us, they'd be turning out little plastic swastika lapel-pins as their number-one industry!

After we bombed Libya we should have saved one, turned around and hit that ugly rusty erector set in Paris on the way back.

They sold arms to our enemies as well.  French Exocet missles were used to kill US sailors 35 sailors aboard the USS Stark and were fired from a French Mirage.

Let's also not forget their long standing history of surrendering!

Just curious if you have a dollar amount on US aid to Egypt. But from your list it "seems" Egypt, who I actually consider a potential enemy of the United States, may in fact do more for us than our supposed ally Israel.

And you are correct, what they do doesn't justify one billion, let alone potential "billions." They would probably do these thing for their own interests anyway.

In order to seduce the Egyptians into making peace with Israel, we agreed to give Egypt welfare equal to 2/3 of the welfare we give to Israel.  Aid to Egypt is really just protection money paid on behalf of Israel.

Here is a page where you can find out how much welfare other countries have received from US taxpayers:  http://qesdb.cdie.org/gbk/index.html.
