They are in it for the dollar, why would you suggest that keeping the Suez open is a "priveledge" that they give us? Not the case. Did you forget to mention that they breed the next generation of terrorists with their anti-USA propaganda? How about their lack of assistance rounding up terrorist cells within their country? Your last sentence sums up that they only do for us when it works for them. |

I think US policy in Middle East is to keep a balance, so aid in term of $$, technology, military,etc.. are giving out or selling tech. and weapons to certain countries (with conditions for sure) that US consider moderate/have good relation with. The minute, ALL the Arab countries unite as one to fight that they consider, an common enemy, such as Israel, or Islam vs Christian, then I think WWIII will happen. I know, we shouldn't give them billions of dollars, but money talks. Look at the situation right now. There are Arab countries that are not involved, some on the fence...Therefore, it is not as volatile as it looks (in term of possible WWIII). |

Of course, all of these things make money for them, so they'd probably be doing them anyway. Just curious if you have a dollar amount on US aid to Egypt. But from your list it "seems" Egypt, who I actually consider a potential enemy of the United States, may in fact do more for us than our supposed ally Israel. And you are correct, what they do doesn't justify one billion, let alone potential "billions." They would probably do these thing for their own interests anyway. |

In order to seduce the Egyptians into making peace with Israel, we agreed to give Egypt welfare equal to 2/3 of the welfare we give to Israel. Aid to Egypt is really just protection money paid on behalf of Israel.
