Show her pictures of Rosie, Hillary, Sara, etc. Tell her that’s what happens when you are anti-gun.

Unless she is trying to change your mind, why do anything – you're not on a gun missionary!
Her feelings about firearms are, from what you said, a consequence of personal, tragic experiences – you're not going to argue those feelings away with logic and statistics! My advice would be to leave the issue alone, don't pressure her. If you two have any future, it will be your calm responsible attitude to the safe use of firearms that will turn this into a non-issue for both of you – Good luck! |

I think maybe you should try to convince her into going shooting if possible. Usually a short time at the range helps ease a lot of fears in people about firearms.

My (now) wife was mildly anti when I met her. I just took her shooting. Now she has killed 5 deer, and pretty much always has a firearm nearby--and we're in Illinois, so you can imagine that takes some creativity to stay legal. I would NOT have continued to date her if she hadn't "straightened out." I told her on the first date that NOTHING will be #1 in my life but firearms. But, I said, #2 ain't bad. She's my #2 and happy. [:D]

Judging by the evolution in what she has told me, from "guns are ok, she just doesn't care for them" to "guns are BAD", I better do something quick, or it will come down to her or the guns. It is not worth near as much as your firearms, nor will it give you as much fun/satisfaction [i]in the long run[/i]. You aren't getting much anyway from half way across the country. When you get older you will learn that stuff like this (guns) is waaaaaaay more important than the cute body parts. My wife knows if there ever comes a time I have to choose between her and firearms, I don't have to think about it. It's probably the same for her too, so it works for us. Judging from your subsequent post – she is trying to change your mind! Remember, most women are a lot smarter (more subtle) than guys – they just gotta be! If this is not just some temporary phase, and she has not become an anti-gun missionary, then, my original comment still holds – stay lose, stay calm and this too will pass. If not, then it's your guns or her! |

Just invite her shooting. A fun day at the range will do more to dis-associate the negative crap and she will understand you better. Start out with .22's .38's etc...

Must be something in the hairspray in Maryland. I dated one from there too and she not only was anti gun, she hated the idea of being in the smae city that she knew a gun was in. Forget taking her shooting, it will only cause you some of the most undue stress you ever experienced in your life. Her idea was that all guns were for were for killing people, not for sport or hunting, even though she knew I loved hunting. I guess she thought I just walked up to the animals and asked them politely to give up or something.
