Great Pics!

This picture here is the exact place where they filmed the movie "The Longest Day" at Point Du Hoc.

There were signs that said the sites were maintained by the US Commission for batttlefield monumnets.

On another note, Although I get pissed at the French for many things.  It was really cool to drive through little french villiages and see monuments to the US.  In a town called Avarrnaches(sp?) we were looking for a gas station and came up to the town center round-a-bout.  There stood a towering monolith that simply had PATTON carved on it, and sitting in front of it was a Sherman tank.  This was where Patton broke through the NAZI lines during operation Cobra.

Pointe du Hoc is US Territory. The bravery of the men of Lt. Col. Rudder impressedo so much the French, that this piece of land was donated by the French Govt. to the US one.
