I wonder how common boom strikes (during startup & hard landings) are on these things.[BD]

Naw, man, that is actually the world's only tail-dragger rotorbird.

Edited because I realized you were speaking of rotor-boom contact, not boom-ground contact.  Unless it is dead empty and low on fuel, the load on the main rotor is probably high enough to prevent strikes.
