I looked up the team in the paddock.  Met John Bosch, who believes the law should be that everyone has to own a gun, so he is one of us.  He started 27th and finished 29th, on the lead lap.  At the end, it sounded like he had dropped a cylinder or two, so he dropped back.  All in all, not a bad debut race.  At least he finished and on the cool down lap, all of us at my turn (15) got on the wall and gave him some very enthusiastic applause and he saw us and smiled and gave some big waves.  That may sound silly to those who don't work corners, but we like it and we have a saying..."No wave, no save...".

Took some pictures.

This is the car in the paddock

We also had several flyovers by a majestic old warbird

There were several cars sponsored by Winchester there.  One was a Volkswagen powered Reynard in the LMP675 class in the 12 hour race, of which I did not get a picture.  In the Formula Ford 2000 support race, there was a car sponsored by Winchester as well.  This is not a very good picture, but if you look on the side between the wheels, you can see the Winchester logo.

On another note, on the way down Wednesday night, I stopped around midnight at a hotel at Interstate 4 and US 27 near Orlando.  I parked the RX7 around back since there were no spots up front.  I took to the room what I needed for the morning, but realized about 10 minutes later that I had forgotten something.  I am licensed to carry in Florida, so I tucked my Sig P220 in my belt at the small of the back.  As I approached my car, I saw a black Maxima sitting next to it with engine running.  I then saw the passenger was out and peering into my car.  I asked him what they were doing from about 20 feet away and his response was "We are thinking about taking this car, white boy".  I then pulled the Sig and let my arm drop with the P220 pointed at the ground and told him that I didn't think so.  He proceeded to jump back into the Maxima and they sped off with the lights off so I couldn't read their tag.  I drove the RX7 around front and parked it under the canopy in front of registration, told them what happened, and that it was staying under the canopy all night and they were to keep an eye on it if they could not provide better security than what I had seen.  They asked about calling the police and I said "why bother?"

(Continued)
The part above about "why bother" was not a slam at cops, but at judges.  I had no license number and even if they were caught by the cops, some bleeding heart judge would just feel sorry for them and do nothing to them.

A Canadian corner worker at Sebring was aghast that I would pull my pistol simply because they were going to steal my car.  He asked if I would really have shot them.  I told them that if they had made the wrong move towards me or had continued their efforts to steal my car, yes I would have.  He said that it was just a car.  I said that it was MY car, not theirs and it was the principle of the thing.  Besides, a white on white Anniversary Edition RX7 is pretty irreplaceable.  There weren't many made.  There also was a female corner worker from Florida who was kind of undecided on whether she should carry a gun or not.  I asked her if she was about to be raped, would she rather suffer that or blow the jerk away.  The Canadian guy told her that she just accept being raped rather than take a life.  Apparently, she decided she would rather be raped as she spent most of the weekend with the Canadian guy and must have like his ideas about being a victim.
