OK, so it really isn't much of a holiday, even for Muslims, but I thought some of you might be interested to know that today is the first day of the year 1423 on the Hijri (Islamic) calendar, a lunar calendar whose starting date is the migration of Mohammed from Mecca to Medina.

Glad to see they are "keeping up with the times." Year 1423???

Maybe in another 600 years they will have worked through some of these issues they have now.
