I believe I have come close to seeing a second one. It was in a thicket too dense to see it but it roared/growled at us and the sound was so low and loud that it vibrated my chest. I definitely didn't think the 1911 that I had with me was enough gun. I was with my daughters and we actually backed out to our vehicle. We had been bigfooting and it was paralleling us in the thicket. We live in the Big Thicket of East Texas. I kind of wish that I would have charged in after it but I wasn't prepared for the aggressiveness of the roar and I kept thinking that I had to get my daughters out of there. |

44 mag ought to do it. a Ruger Model 44 would be nice. Well if they existed that is. I would say that if they exist, a .44 magnum would probably hurt one bad providing the shoot was close.

Choices, choices: bolt or auto 30-06 180 Winchester Failsafe handloads, 12 gauge pump Brenneke Black Magic, 16" carbine 458 Socom Extreme penetrator, bolt action 375 H&H 300 gr partition. They throw rocks very well, as in hit you with a fist size rock from 75 yards, pistols not recommended, though better than a sharp stick. Get ready to reload, may be many more than one. Lights and green lasers recommended for nocturnal use. Well you asked. I would shoot for self defense only.
