Went grocery shopping Sunday.  As I do EVERY time I shop, I swung through the booze section, and what was staring at me in the face looking like a little shelter pony that needed a good home.   Well, you bring it home.  I don't fawn or it, but when it's there...I get it.

A Thursday through Sunday trip to the Motherland

If I would have went back to Heaven Hill on Saturday instead of Buffalo Trace, there would have been 2 bottles of Old Fitzgerald 16yr added to this picture .  BT had Weller SR on Saturday (which I didn't want or buy) and only walked out with Rootbeer.

That Select Stock is no BS probably the best bourbon of 2021, and one of the best I have ever had.

Snagged this for $85 today. Epic win.

Is that a Heritage Center pickup?  I haven’t seen it there, but timing is everything with Heaven Hill.

I snagged it online on their IG/FB page when it was for sale. It was like 75 I think.

Based on the pic above, it looks like it was at the gift shop too. Ive been lucky there, we got WHH 16 (3 bottles), Old Fitz 16, Larceny BP, and now this bottle.

I’ve had some luck Old Fitz 9 (black) and 14 (red) as well as Elijah 18, and a couple of WHH bottlings. It’s odd that they were completely out and never again getting the red Fitz 16 that was available last weekend. Maybe I’ll get lucky next month when I trek back to Bardstown.  I missed Elijah 23 by minutes last fall waiting on a wingman to confirm he was in.

Yes, this was from the Giftshop from Friday Morning.  If I would have went back there Saturday instead of going to Buffalo Trace, I would have gotten two bottles of Old Fitzgerald 16yr (Found out that's what they had on Saturday) I made the mistake of going to Buffalo Trace and walked out with just Rootbeer.  (They had Weller Special Reserve that day, and I don't care for WSR).  Went back to Buffalo Trace on Sunday, and it was EHT Small Batch, which is what I was hoping for.

Did you like the Evan 23?  The tour guide talked me out of it. He said it was very oaky and smoky and recommended the Master’s Blend that has every EW bourbon in it.

Honestly? Its chocolate covered cherries with dark oak. I love old bourbon, and this is awesome. BUT, its expensive and you may not like it. I think its worth every penny, and it was expensive.

Now that sounds good. Maybe I will get a bottle next trip. At $350, I probably won’t get two (right away).

I've been scouring the Chicago area looking for E H Taylor SmB to no avail. I found one place that had 3 btls at $120 each. NFW
Saw I other btl at $80. I did find some Woodford DO for $48. I'll probably have to settle for that this time around.

You've got some harder to find bottles in your collection.. Do you have a hook-up, or just lucky on the hunt.  I thought I heard it mentioned earlier that AL is a control state??

Allocation is so weird.  I was in a Liquor Store in KY last weekend, and they had that FAE01 on the shelf...then around the corner, they had it stacked up about 5 cases high.. all for $64.99.  Was at the Makers giftshop, and they has the 2019, 2020 & 2021 all there for the same price.

The 2019 RC6 was my favorite so far. Still have a couple bottles stashed away.

The 2020 was ok but the 2021 FAE-01 is pretty good, working on a bottle right now.

Man, I hunted one day for atleast 6 hours when it was first coming out and finally got a bottle...I was disappointed.  I guess maybe it was because I was used to drinking Single Barrel.  I't sat for a bit, maybe the neck pour wasn't the greatest.  I need to revisit it, and my McKenna Bib that neither I or my buddy cared for.

On the nose it reminds me of a cookie. I immediately thought gingerbread with vanilla icing.

Taste is Oak w/ a little pepper spice at first then takes a left turn and goes completely sweet. I enjoyed it.

I have never had any of the other Pacts but I would buy this again if I see it.
