I was talking to one one of my Indian colleagues (IT, not casino) about whiskey, and he mentioned that Amrut is actually really good, especially the "Fusion" version.

I have never tried it. My local liquor store did not have it when I looked today, but he said that he can find it in Maryland.

Has anyone tried it? Apparently it's around $100 a bottle, which is a bit high for me (I prefer whiskey in the $40 - $90 range). But, if it's awesome, I would, totally be tempted to get one,

... another one of my colleague who is REALLY into whiskey, and loves single malt scotch, also happens to be Indian, and he has never mentioned it - so I'm a little skeptical about how good it really might be.

It is certainly worth a try. If we lived closer, I'd invite you to try some of mine.

Since I love Scotch and whiskies so much, I try to introduce various releases to some of my friends when at conferences or conventions. I try to pick really good bottles with which they are probably unfamiliar. Their palates are generally unrefined, but a step up from Bud Light! However, I am working on them and have made slow progress.

Amrut is one of those labels that none of them have heard of but that almost everyone loves.

It's not uncommon to get a text weeks later: "Hey, viator. What was the Indian whiskey we tried? I want to get a bottle."

LOL, never heard it that way... In my industry we had a lot of Indians and other Easterners... We said Hey, you now Anuj, the Indian.. Dot, not Feather... Or Conversely, Lu. He is feather, not dot....

I saw a mention of that Amrut on one of the food type channels, this guy was traveling around over there trying all the different cuisines and different Drinks... Seemed interesting, but no idea what it taste like..
