Looks fantastic OP. A lot of purists would freak out about the restoration and the reduced resale value but if you've no plans to sell it it's irrelevant. I had my father's 1675 factory serviced after he gave it to me, but it'll not be sold by me. That's a fine gift for your FIL.

Dang! Outstanding service! It’s perfect in my opinion. As someone else mentioned, it crossed the line between patina and damaged. I think it was well worth it. Congratulations!

Wow!  Father’s Day gift for him?

I’m really impressed with how they restored the bracelet.

They are one of two groups worldwide that do it the way they do.

Even the other mod shops and vintage dealers send everything to Mike.

Wizard. He eliminated stretch completely on my 14060 bracelet.

Thanks guys! I appreciate everyone’s advice along the way and I’m glad you guys got to tag along too! I will be posting the return of the watch when the time comes. Not sure on when that will be but fairly soon.

I'm really glad you sent it to them and they came through for you! They've worked on several of my watches too and I'd never send mine anywhere else for restoration work.

OP that is fantastic, the Pepsi GMT is one of my favorites.  I have a black GMT that will be handed down to my grandson.

It does look great!
I was thinking the bezel insert was getting refinished as well. The fact they left it makes me happy because it has that super light patina.

You did good man.

Sorry guys no update and been working tons of OT. Wife didn’t want to do it on Father’s Day because the whole family was around and her brother and sister didn’t know he gave it to her (Not that they would care). But stay tuned. Should be SOON!

Cool story and great watch.

That is a hefty repair bill, but worth it for that watch and it looks great.

Looking back at this thread and I see people talking about the repair bill..   But I look at how bad a shape the watch was in and I would have never dreamed that it would have come out that good,  I did not even think it could have been fixed!  Still way cheaper than buying a new one form an AD and retail price.   Just from a pure business standpoint without the emotional ties,  theoretically what would this watch sell for on the open market after being worked, since it is " not original" ?

You would absolutely recoup costs on a vintage sports model.

Assuming you didn’t buy at peak market.
