This works on all the Kayfun clones or the real thing. You will need a 3/32 drill bit, 28g Kanthal wire, cotton ball, butane torch, scissors, and tweezers. This build should put you at 1.6 ohms. Before you start torch the piece of wire so it holds it's shape better.

First you need to do 10.5 wraps on the drill bit. I say 10.5 because after you make 10 wraps go another half a wind so the leads are facing opposite directions. Wrap this as tight and as close as possible.

Next put the coil in the tweezers. Don't squeeze too hard, just enough so all the coils touch. Then torch the coil so it glows bright red for about 10 seconds. Allow to cool for another 10 seconds. The end result should look like this.

Now insert the drill bit back through the coil. Position it as seen below with the leads going around the screw so when you tighten them it won't push the leads back out. Basically wrap the lead clockwise if you catch my drift. Bend  the leads around screw then tighten down. If needed lift up on drill bit so the coil is not touching the deck. THIS IS IMPORTANT!!! It will short out otherwise. Clip excess wire from leads.

Now screw it on to your mod. Press the fire button and see how it works (this is assuming you have already checked the ohms on a meter or on the mod). It should glow from the center outwards. If it doesn't then press the fire button for a couple seconds then release. Then pinch the coil together with the tweezers. Press the fire button again to see how it glows. If needed repeat heating and then pinching the coil together until the coil glows evenly.

When the coil is all set peel some cotton off of the cotton ball. It is easier if you look for the starting point and try to unroll the cotton ball first. This will ensure the fibers are running the same direction. Don't use too much. It should slide through the coil easily.

Then cut the wick just a little bit longer than the width of the base.

Now wet the wick with some juice. I use a small flathead to stick the wick to the side of the deck. Don't get any of the wick into the fluid channel or down the threads.

Next put the bottom part of the chamber on. The wick should stay put if not you can move it away from the channels with the flathead. It should look like this.

Now assemble everything, fill with juice, and enjoy!!!!

Pffft, no guns in pics. But really, the GrimGreen video under suggestions on the link above is another good build vid. The build comes at the end of his review.

Awesome write-up!  Is that tank an option, or is it just a different model Kayfun?  I'm not familiar with them, but am getting more interested lately.  But all the ones I've seen, there is only a small window of glass on the tank.

Have you seen Rip's new video?

Whenever I build micro coils they end up at 5-7ohms.  I wrap the coil, use tweezers to pinch it together making sure there is no overlapping, remove from the drill bit, hold/squeeze with pliers, torch/redden for 10 seconds, let cool while still squeezed in pliers.

I'm using 32g regular kanthal.

Damn, how many wraps?

I do about 10 wraps of 30ga and it usually comes out to about 2ohms.

So far im gonna say its pretty sweet.  I built a single micro coil using 28g kanthal, 12-13 wraps on a 5/64, ended up at 2.3 ohms. Im using cotton just like the OP. Its got great flavor, but not as much vapor as id expect.

I think the kayfun just might be my new everyday vape (EDV? Is that a term yet?)

That's surprising.  Micro-coils and cotton are notorious for spitting out clouds.

What wattage/voltage are you running it at?

I got three more days before my kaifun clone gets here...

OK for the dude using 32 ga you will get that high of resistance with 32 and 34 ga.  Take a few wraps off and make another coil for some hot double coil clouds.

To me, its worth it, though.  I dont consider myself a "cloud chaser", but I do love me some nice clouds.  Its more satisfying, even if only on a mental level.

I buy mine here, from the manufacturer. $5.48, shipped to your door. That's for 1 hundred feet of wire.

Yea. Use a good dish soap like Dawn. I put a shit ton of soap in a big cup with hot water and let it soak. After the water wasn't hot I took out the kayfun, rinsed, scrubbed, and repeated a few more times. And this probably goes without saying but take the kayfun completely apart and soak all the pieces.

I'm hitting the Vamo V5 atm, but also got a Sentinel MI6 that I dont care for. The 18650's fit, but its a telescoping mod and the fire button is on the bottom and will take some getting used to. I'm going to keep it for back for a few paydays then get a side button mech mod and dip into the sub-ohm world. Even my dogs are surprised by the clouds.

Top notch tutorial, Keith!

I might have delve in to a RBAs soon since it looks fairly simple.

As far as parts needed, you say torch, if you have one--how necessary is one? Probably should get one anyway if they arent too much.

How often to you have to rebuild the coil/ replace the cotton?

The torch helps in forming the coil. I don't have one but ran my wire along my gas stove flame to soften it up before wrapping my coil. I think a bic would work too. My first coil ever, that I made yesterday is still running strong, but I've re-wicked three times as I changed juice flavors. The coil is like a light bulb element, should last a while, it's the wick that gets nasty.

Any regular "jet flame" lighter will also work for torching coils.  Cheap and you can get them pretty much anywhere.

Replacing will depend on your juice and how picky you are about fresh/clean flavors.  My first microcoil I swapped the cotton a couple times, but left the coil in place the entire time, which was about a month.  After you pull the cotton, you can just fire the coil with no wick and it will burn off most of the gunk (on an RBA.  Domt do this with ProTank heads as Im told it will melt the rubber inside since everything is so close together inside).

What they said above. Coils can last as much as a few months I'm told. I rebuild every couple weeks because I usually get bored.
