So I did try to do that Mr. Beer kit a few times several years ago but I could never get it to not taste like yeast.

I'm looking to try it again this time not with the Mr. Beer kit I'm looking for a better kit can anyone recommend a good kit to start with?

What equipment do you have?  I'd buy an extract kit from austin homebrew or another store and really all you need is a pot to cook in and then something to ferment in like a food grade 5 gallon bucket.

Get some beer yeast, not bread yeast and problem should be solved.

My first few beers where Mr. Beer, they where OK, but go to homebrew

forums for info to advance your recipes.  Extract brews are a learning

experience on your way to all grain. When I started, I told myself I

would do all grain within the first year, I ended up doing it with home

made equipment. That was twenty years ago. I got bored with it and

quit.  Now me and my brothers are getting back into it. The plan is extract for

now and all grain within a year from now.

Something like this is a good start:

But you'll also need a kettle. I hate to recommend AB owned northern brewer, but...

When I got into brewing I made a mistake. I rushed into all-grain and had a number of setbacks. I highly recommend you do extract or partial-mash brewing for a while until you get really comfortable with it.
