I am a picky sum-b!tch. I judge my favorite breakfast restaurants by how well they make potatoes. It is very obvious when they do not try. When a place can't do a simple potato right, there is a good chance everything ells will be sub-par...
My dad cans potatoes. The pre-cooking from the canning process makes them fry up real nice. At home I like to par boil, and then freeze potatoes, so I have them ready to go. I made a silly YouTube video to show folks how to do this. Please give it a watch, and tell me what you think.

I've never tried parboiling in spices.   I'll give it a shot.

I tried these today and loved the texture.

For the life of me I couldn't taste the spices from the parboiling.

Good video though, you're a funny dude.
