We made 4 Master Masons this year (the last one being me last month). Two have disappeared already.   I'm told this is not unusual either.
The 3-5 year retention level is atrocious.  
My lodge absorbed another lodge maybe 10 or so years ago. We got their clubhouse and those of their members who chose to come over. Sold the clubhouse and it's contributed greatly to my lodge's long-term financial stability.

Only 2 or 3 of them ever come to meetings now.
