Almost 13, still a puppy at heart. Ultrasound shows enlarged prostate, probably cancer.
We had a perianal hernia repaired in May, and he was all healed up from that. He hasn't been able to urinate on his own for a couple weeks, so I've been cathing him 2-3 times a day, mostly fine other than that. He let me know that it was time last night when he wouldn't wag and could hardly stand on his own or get comfortable. He was in much better spirits this morning, but still not feeling well at all. It would have been all downhill from here so we made the hard choice. We'll miss you Cubby...

BTDT. Its hardest when you have to make that decision, but when you know it is for the best for your little buddy, it makes it a little easier. Now, keep him in a lifetime of memories, and in a couple of weeks go find a rescue dog that needs a good home and his own set of memories

I've had to put down a number of dogs and cats. When you reach a certain point, it is a true kindness to relieve their suffering. Personally, I consider it my duty to them to be there at their last moments, because I ordered it. I have never felt that my decision to put them down was not a wise, informed, and compassionate one. I am sure you made the same, difficult decision.
The pain at their passing does lessen, and the good memories will always be with you. |

Sorry man. I've lost 2 of my 3 dogs this year. It sucks.
