Here are my two knuckle heads at Lake of the Ozarks a couple months ago.  The white one is Elsa and the darker colored one is Baxter.

Just turned 4 months. Wish I hadn't waited so long to get a Mal. They are the coolest dogs ever. Love my GSD, but she's something special.

Meet Leo. ~5 years old. We recently (Thursday) adopted this fella from a family that needed to get rid of him due to their landlord.

The wife unit got some great pictures of Peyton playing with his flirt pole.  It's a buggy whip with a cheap 99 cent ball from Wal Mart I attached to the end.  It's great for exercising him and doing drive work.

What vest/harness is he wearing? Could use one like that for our big Shiloh. She's good on a leash, but tends to get distracted and likes to try to chase things when you are on lead.

Watched this forum for a long time. Now, I can post here! Meet Zoe.

When the Fiancée rescued her a month and a half ago, she showed signs of neglect and abuse. She had been shaved somewhat recently and was really anorexic looking. You could clearly see her ribs, spine and hip bones clearly. She was skiddish as all hell too.

But after a good meal, a spot on the bed and a little attention, her and I have been really close pals. I've never had a German shepherd before, and I've got some learning to do. She is housebroken and knows a few basic commands. She seems really good with kids, but seems to be not so friendly with other dogs. A little separation anxiety too. She's a lovable and clumsy sort and acts like a little dog trapped in a big dogs body. She's now up to date with shots and as soon as the AZ summer breaks, I want to work on socializing her. Until then, this noob has some learning to do.

And here is his heel off leash in public. He's 6 months.

It's just the angle of the phone camera.  It's a selfie my wife took.  It makes him look bigger in relation to her than he really is.  He's between 75 and 80 pounds right now, so he's not too big.  Here's a pic of him next to me she took today when I took him out to chase squirrels.  When we see one he has to sit and wait for me to send him, which is tough for him being under two years old, but he listens well.  I use a 30 foot line and keep gloves on to prevent rope burns, which I've learned about the hard way.

I didn't even think of the selfie/angle , but standing next to you he's still a good size pup.

And yup, I know about the rope burns on hands...a few years ago doing some work with our Rottie. She saw a chipmunk and temptation won. She went to give chase and I grabbed the rope. You know the rest.....

He got some more lure coursing in today.  Once he sees and hears the machine, he totally goes into overdrive.  It wears him out good.

Waiting for the send off

So, my GSD won't currently step foot on the front porch due to the Halloween decorations.  A life sized witch and a few skeletons, including a dog skeleton.    Yet she will face down a pack of coyotes.

Since the topic includes GSD, Mals, and Dutchies...I will assume this topic isn't herder specific but is working dog specific...and perhaps apprehension/protection oriented. If that is the case, let me introduce the American Sentinel.

I was visiting family in Houston back in June when a big storm rolls in. A stray pup found her way to the front door and never left. Long story short, my cousin kept her and is in love with her. As soon as I saw her I thought she has to be a Dutchie. Agreed? She's a beautiful dog with a gorgeous brindle coat. Vet estimated around eight months old when we found her.

And here's the reason I didn't keep her for myself. My Australian Shepherd/Blue Heeler mix. I got him as a newborn when I was a senior in high school (2009). He's my first dog and he's a boss.

Put a deposit down on this guy today. He was 4 weeks old Monday so it will be late next month or early January before he comes home depending on the weather, holiday schedules, etc.  Much to do to get ready.

He got to do his favorite thing in the universe again today...lure coursing.  I gotta get me one of these machines.  He's worn out tonight.

Got a good morning tracking and focused heeling session over the holidays and without any staging on my part, Millie decided to lay down in the perfect spot for a picture while we waited on our ride to get back from running an errand.

Beginning track

Found it!

Don’t mind me, I’m just over here being majestic AF.
