Archived [ARCHIVED THREAD] - Summer in the Philippine Islands book suggestions?

I'm spending three week this summer in the P.I. And need a good book to read. I usually enjoy gloomy/dark end of the world fiction but I want to keep it light and maybe ocean/island adventure fiction? No WWII history please! ?? Any good ones I should check out?

Will you have time to read during such an awesome trip?

I think Robinson Crusoe (Daniel Dafoe) fits your bill quite nicely.  

Then read about the author, he'd the original AR15.comer from the 1600's.
