Unfortunately, we lost a great person and my best friend today.  Brian's sister let me know that he passed at 0330 this morning at home after a short battle with Pancreatic Cancer.  I saw Brian while he was TDY in early September.  He looked like he had lost some weight, but was in good spirits.  He called me the week of 19 September to tell me he had been diagnosed with Stage 4 Pancreatic Cancer (large nodes in Pancreas, Arterial involvement, Metastasized to liver, etc.).  He started treatment as part of a trial on 12 October.  He barely had a month to come to grips with this horrible disease and get everything in order.

Brian Beavers was a truly good person and friend.  He was an Aggie and graduated with a degree in Aerospace Engineering.  He spent 20 years as an officer in the Air Force where he started out as a missileer (SAC trained killer).  I met Brian at our last assignment where he was a Test Director at AFOTEC.  Brian worked for the Missile Defense Agency after his retirement until he passed.  Brian loved to ski and shoot.  We built a lot of AKs and ARs together when I lived in the Springs.  I am heartbroken and miss him dearly.

Death sucks any way you cut it. That our time must come to an end and we have no say in it seems unjust at times.

What one leaves behind is what is really important since one can take nothing with them.

Sorry for you loss.

Oh no .

RIP Brian.

He joined me one day for a great day of skiing. He was a really good guy. I'm glad to have had that ski day together.

I didn't know he was sick. I'm terribly sorry to hear this bad news, and sorry for OP's and his family's loss. He will be missed.

OP: I know it's difficult to be the bearer of bad news, but I thank you for doing it.

Fuck.

Brian was always there with an encouraging word or sage advice for me whenever I needed it. The world is a bit darker today due to his passing.

Rest easy, Brian. We'll grab that beer on the other side.
