Aviation in miniature. Hasegawa 1/48 TA-4J Skyhawk converted to OA-4M. My first and probably only commission build. I loved doing it, but it ate too much into my own limited building time.

Nicely done!
My 10 year old daughter and I are getting into modeling as part of 4H. We did the A10 last year, and the "Cub" this year. She did most of the work herself on both, including paint, other than some super fine work gluing in some really tricky pieces. Attached File Attached File The A-10 is her favorite military plane, and the Cub is her favorite non military plane, even though we built the L-4 military version. She was inspired by this plane we saw last summer at a local airfield fly in event. We decided to put on the full invasion stripe decal kit since the roundel wasn't separate from the strips on the fuselage and we were worried we might mess it up if we tried to cut it out. Yeah, no. Frank acquired the aircraft and had it restored. Its not a P39 it is a P63. Neither P39s or 63s were used by the USAF in Korea. Except for P51s and F82s the USAF fighters in Korea were all jets. Frank bought the P63 in 1995, and sold it in 2003. Lol go figure.
Saw an air tractor down towards NC the other night. If I'd had my camera, I'd have chased him around a bit. |

http://i.imgur.com/iuAfhnM.jpg View Quote A very interesting video would be one that would show the landing gear of a large number of planes retracting. Some of them go through a lot of contortions to get up in the wheel wells, and I think it would be very interesting to see the different types. Of course, I'm a hardware nut so that would appeal to me, but I know I'm not alone. |

Lol. That would be cool. I love mechanical origami. Sometimes engineers are just a little too clever. Just ask any end-user or mechanic.

Effect of a ship pulling out of an ag turn and getting back on line on swath pattern; helicopter is nearing the bottom of the pull-out dive and creating significant vortices from both high blade pitch and rapidly descending rotor disk. Pushing a LOT of air straight down. Effect was compounded on this site as the edge of the spray area was at the bottom of a hill.
We don't like seeing this but careful observation showed that the swath edge was rolling up, over, and falling right back down in the main pattern. Collective Effect on Swath by FredMan, on Flickr |
