Hi Yanks, I thought you all would like to see the real figures
from Down Under. It has now been 12 months since gun owners in
Australia
were forced by a new law to surrender 640,381 personal firearms to be
destroyed by our own government, a program costing Australia taxpayers
more
than $500 million dollars.

The first year results are now in: Australia-wide, homicides
are up 6.2 percent, Australia-wide, assaults are up 9.6 percent ;
Australia-wide, armed robberies are up 44 percent (yes, 44 percent)!
In the
state of Victoria alone, homicides with firearms are now up 300
percent.
(Note that while the law-abiding citizens turned them in, the
criminals did
not! and
criminals still possess their guns!

I hate to see crime rates rise, but thats what happens when you take away tools (guns) from the good guys.

I just did a paper in a college Ecomonics class on handgun deaths per year in america. My VERY anti handgun prof is now considering in a few years getting handguns and taking safety classes for he and his wife for personal protection. The Pro gun students really did a great job with thier papers. Student just added the Statistics, concealed carry states have some of the lowest crime rates AND cops cant be at your house fast enough when someone has a gun to your head.

AND- the anti-gun activist in the good o'le USA still want to take our guns away.......makes no sense.

I think we should have firearms safety and shooting classes in the public schools. maybe if people knew how to use and respect them they would not fear and hate them so much.

I think firearms safety courses for both boys and girls in school is a great idea. I read that's how they learn in Switzerland.
