Surfing around the net I came across this movie. Looked good so I ordered it. It's about a teenager who joins (or is shanghaied by) a band of Russian Partisans.

Released in 1985, the movie was filmed in Russian with English subtitles. Judged by American standards it would not be considered a good movie. If I had to compare it to an American war movie it would have to be "The Thin Red Line."

Anyway, what I did find remarkable is that some of the scenes were shot using live ammo. One scene in particular shows a dairy cow up close taking a burst of tracer from an MG42. Very powerful scene. Also, authentic German uniforms were used.

There is a good german movie called Stallingrad. I liked it. It gives you the german grunts point of view. You may like it.
