from this, when I got it in April. a mild mannered, well maintained stocker that had never seen so much as a dirt road.

to this

what I've done to it so far. All the work done myself with the exception of welding the exhaust and mounting/balancing the tires.

added heavy duty 1.25inch shackles
RE 4inch lift kit
8.8 rear-end, 4.10gears, trackloc for now.
HP dana 30 in the front with 4.10's, lockright, posi-lock, upgrade 1330 yoke
2inch body lift
1inch MML
teraflex bellyup
modified skid row engine skid
custom built gas-tank skid +lifted 2 inches
PSC rock ring, PSC corners, warn D30 diff guard.
rustys heavy duty tie-rod and drag link
rear trackbar removed, JKS telescoping trackbar up front
JKS quicker discos
swapped in seats out of an 99cavalier
built a bracket to mount the full-size spare across the rear fenders
herculined the interior
new flaming river lower steering shaft
seats out of a 99 cavalier

just finished swapping in the 4.0 and electronics, including instrument cluster out of an 04 TJ, along with an NV3550 and RockTrac Transfer Case.

custom tomwoods rear CV
modified Rubicon front shaft with upgraded yoke for the D30
Novak TC shifter setup.

had OnBoardAir, its currently removed, but it'll be going back on soon.

rattlecan painted it in my garage.

Right now I'm in the middle of finishing my custom dash, its pretty rough right now.

That is pretty cool. I would not really want to be seen in it, if it were still in before mode. However the mods have made is somthing that anyone would want to roll in.

I would have skipped the body lift and mabey the springs for spring over

well the body lift is a must.  no way in hell would the RockTrac Transfer case fit up under it with a bellyup WITHOUT a body lift.   plus I built a custom gas tank skid that takes advantage of the body lift, so I've gained almost 2inches departure clearance under there.

I considered a spring over and for the amount of money involved to do it right, its just not worth it to me.  it flexes GREAT with the setup I'm currently running.   If I ever upgrade to a 44 or bigger in the front I might consider going SOA again.

the hardtop is a winter only thing. it rolls in just a bikini and no doors for the rest of the year.

base price was $0 for the vehicle.  I've got between 8-9k in it now.

VERY NICE.  Really, good job.

My buddy has a 94 wrangler with a 4" suspension lift, similar size tires as yours too.

Some people told him to get wider tires...but you need tall/somewhat skinny tires for mud/clay.  That's mostly the terrain here in ohio.  Wider tires are better suited for more sandy environments.

3" or 4" lift and those tires are a good combo.  It's just what you need in size/height.  It makes a jeep look well balanced.  I wish all jeeps came from the factory that way.  It's not overkill, or super redneck, it's just right IMHO.

Now GET THAT THING MUDDY!!!!

disc 8.8 of course, only way to go.  I'm convinced its just about the best rear-end upgrade for the money.  unless you go full-widths.

Its bolted to the cowl. and actually in the process of being bolted through the floor to the rocker guards with a frame tie in.   so its plenty Real Enough.

have you seen the rollover video on TBT's website?  when tracy rolled at Moab?  the cage she rolled in is almost EXACTLY identical in construction to this one and it held up fine.  TBT's cage bolts to the cowl too.  and that cage was  WITHOUT the floor tie ins.

Its plenty of cage for the type of wheelin I do.

Sorry man I need to stop...

I am just a freak when it comes to wheelin and staying safe. Nice jeep by the way. I am running a the PSC cage that goes to the floor and it is tied into the rockers. I decided to prepare myself for the day I roll the jeep going 65 on the freeway.

The wheelin roll is going to be a slow one. Its the high speed roll that will get ya!

Oh, and again..    Sweet jeep!

yeah, the one that she walked away from with just a bump on the head.

and I guess you just choose to keep ignoring this,

and actually in the process of being bolted through the floor to the rocker guards

I'm assuming you have PSC's full welded cage, because if not, how is PSC's trail cage any better?

and you're fooling yourself if you think either of those cages is gonna protect you in a 65mph rollover.

Easy bruiser....

I was just asking if you planned to upgrade your cage as I feel it is inferior. I have seen lots of rolls and built plenty of jeeps so I know a little about how this stuff works.

If you don't want my opinion then ignore it. I am sorry that I made you feel bad and appologize for being a little forward on my views. Just trying to help you out man.

I am willing to bet that if you ever ran hells gate you would want a better cage then what you have. I have ran it and would not want to go all the way down it!

I think tracy got lucky.

Nice Jeep, I like the heavy duty bumpers.

One thing though, why the lift shackles? I'm fairly positive you can get , leaf springs inexpensively.

Calm down man..... looks like a lift shackle though nothing wrong with it, it's just a poor mans lift, is all.

Sounded like you are easily offended, must be a newbie in the 4x4 world?

Relax and enjoy your rig.

not easily offended, I just get tired of having to repeat myself over and over again.

from this post you still don't seem to comprehend.

for like the millionth time.

THEY ARE 1.25inch HEAVY DUTY LIFT SHACKLES

the jeep also has

4inch Rubicon Express Suspension lift.

is that plain enough for you yet?

obviously I've been in the 4x4 world long enough to know the difference between a shackle lift and a suspension lift and can recognize both on a jeep without having to be beat over the head with it six different ways.

I've got less in my YJ as it sits right now, than the base price of a TJ my buddy is building.

yup, I've got about $15k in it as it sits there including the initial $5k for the base jeep.

Here's the rundown:
3.5" BDS SUA lift
1.25" HD lift shackles
1" Daystar body lift
Ford 9" fullwidth rear from a '79 F250 w/5.38 gears and a Detroit disk brakes
D44 HP w/high steer knuckles from a '79 F350 w/5.39 gears and a Detroit disk brakes
PSC Rocker Knockers
Raingler shorty front bumper
Warn rear bumper/tire carrier
36x13.5x15 Iroks on rock crawler black steelies
Advanced Adaptors SYE w/cv driveshaft
High steer is 1.75" 1/4" wall dom Hiem jointed drag link/tie rod.
IPF trail lights.
Delta headlight conversion
Warn HD9000i winch.
LED flush light conversion going in today
custom cage just went in (had it built in trade for a pair of ARs)
tons of other stuff that I'm sure I'm forgeting: hi lift jack, neoprene seat covers, tuffy security radio console, bestop sound bar, etc, etc...

I've removed all track bars and sway bars so it's real fun to drive on winding mountain roads!

Up next I'm going to do tube fenders w/hard flares front and back.  I've got a Vortec 4.3l engine and an NV4500 tranny for it sitting in the garage that will go in it at some point.  I really need to get a trailer for it!  I also installed rear TJ flares and did the cut n grind for more clearance.

I've got a PSC power steering skid that I need to install now that I've swaped out my front bumper as well.  I'm looking into a belly up pan as well.

It never ends with these frickin' things!

ETA: haha!
I found a pic of what it looked like when I got it:
