DO NOT BUY EXTENDED WARRANTIES EVER. Especially those that are not backed by the manufacturer.

Just dont do it. Was in that industry for years. All of those warranties are NOT worth the money and they don't cover shit. Except for the original GMPP

Depends on the car and its known issues.

Back in 2013 when I bought my 2007 335i I purchased a aftermarket warranty from "quality guard plus" for $2200.

It was a 5 year/50k mile warranty.

Just had my turbos replaced and it was covered by that warranty company for the tune of $6k.

Read though this thread about route 66 and see what you think:

I bought a used '06 Expedition in 2008 and purchased a private-company extended warranty for $900.

Six months later, the a/c system went T.U. and the warranty covered the $1400 repair.

A year later, it covered a new throttle body.

A lot of independent mechanics won't even mess with them. They are not in the business to take pictures, send emails and make phone calls just to get a repair job. Then on top of it they try to negotiate a lower than book price for the repair.

They are THE only aftermarket warranty I would ever purchase. They covered the ball joints on my truck and even rusted brake lines if purchased with less then 80k miles. I absolutely recommend them, they also have no deductible, but you may have to pay an hour of diagnosis.

That specific company will not cover the diagnosis or fluids for repairs that are covered. So be prepared to still pay for those things. I have dealt with them before.
