At first I wanted either a coyote mustang or a 2010 up ss Camaro. Now I see plenty of them for sale with aftermarket superchargers. I just think it would be better to have a car that came with a supercharger new. Im looking to spend around 25k, Im paying cash. I like the idea of good street manners, cold air, dependable but tons of power if you need it. I want around an 09 for price then upgrade the supercharger maybe some gears and tires and that's it.

I have an 08 gt500 with minor bolt ons making ~530rwhp. I have a new blower sitting in my room just waiting to get a few more parts.

25k will get you a decent one. Most I see have low miles for high 20's low 30's. I paid 31k for mine with around ~4,500 miles on it.

Get one, you won't regret it.

Out here in Ca the 07-09 GT500s havent really dipped under 30k yet.   The 10-12s are in upper 30s.   The 13-14s are solid 40s with the low miles cars in the 50s even 60s still.

Given all those options a factory warrantied Roushcharger installed blower option on a new Mustang isnt a bad idea.   The oil pump issues need solving at some point though on any coyote.

I have an 05 GT that is climbing in miles.   I got a text from the kid I bought it from 3 years ago asking me if I ever thought about selling it.   Come next spring I am thinking of doing exactly that.

I would like to replace it with a 10-12 GT500 in a few years if the market comes down just a little bit more.   Really not wanting/needing a 13-14.   It will be a very limited use car given I have other Mustang projects with a 66 to complete.   Selling the 2005 would put me into a good place for that.   Then with the 2015 paid off I would be ready for a GT500 in 2020.

I am 50/50 on liking the looks of the 07-09 GT500s, some look great with minor mods and others look like they need something.    A slightly lowered silver GT500 with no stripes and blacked out markers/tint on after market wheels is a good start.

GT500s are awesome. You can build them mild or wild and they look great. Go for it, OP.

$30K-ish?

Holy fuck, I remember them coming out 10 years ago and places were trying to get north of $70K for them.

I've been thinking about one of these lately too.

Is the cylinderhead 'tick' an issue on these cars?

I know of some decent ones just under 25K. I know of one with 25kmiles and a salvage title for 19k.

I have built engines for 20years. When you build power you sacrifice driveability. With these cars I barely see a need to change the cam or headers. If you want more power all you need is more boost and a tune. As long as the fuel can keep up. I know there are upgrades to take you from 500 hp to 750.

Sounds like fun, op.  I'm picking up a 2004 cobra in March.

THAT is my favorite Ford ever. Terminators are the ultimate street brawler.

It's not. Last I remember the 03 cobra had a "tick" and I believe there was a recall.

I'm a Corvette/Camaro guy but after spending some time at the Shelby Museum in Las Vegas, I'm itching for a 07 white/blue GT500

Here's some pics for inspiration

I had an 07 GT500 I bought at a bank for $18k with 40k miles on it.  I think I got 140miles to a tank.  A lot of fun and A LOT of wheel hop.

That was an awesome deal. I have heard the wheel hop has to be dealt with.

The wheel hop can easily be dealt with using upper and lower control arms with polyurethane bushings.
Lubricate the bushings with silicone grease if you don’t want squeaks.

444hp.

Pretty damn good for naturally aspirated.

Worst thing about the Boss302 is the transmission.   Wish they put the GT500 trans in them.

I looked at the Boss hard before I went with a LS3 C6 Corvette.  It was cool with what Ford did to make it a Boss and it performs awesome but damn are they still expensive as they pretty much cost almost the same as a 2011-2012 GT500.

OP, in talking with a couple GT500 owners while I was looking at them, these guys all said the same thing, that they much preffered the 11-12 GT500 over the 13-14 even though the 13-14 has more HP.  They said the 11-12 felt like a better balanced car.
