I've had it since 1992, and have made improvements over the years.

77 Mustang outer skins only.  Full aluminum interior.
Scout II frame
Dana 44 front, 60 rear with Wilwood wide 5 hubs and Wilwood brakes.  Aluminum Bart wheels
68 Pontiac 400 block, .060 over with a cut 455 crank, Bill Miller aluminum rods, big roller cam ( I forget the specs, and my notes are buried somewhere), Edelbrock heads race ported by SD Performance, Victor intake, Msd ignition, etc, ect, blah ,blah, blah.
Automatic trans, with a manual valve body.

It's a fun ride.

Start in first, smash it to the floor on the last yellow (sportsman tree start), shift to 2nd as soon as it moves, hit 3rd about 40 feet out and hang on.

It's hauls ass pretty good.

I've been out of it for the past few years, but I'm thinking of doing a race or two this summer.

My 2yo Honda Foreman.  It has an easy life here on the farm.  I use it mostly to ride fence lines and haul in firewood.  My son really loves riding on it with me.

Nice rides.

What did you do the 6.0L to make it bulletproof?

I've been looking at Excursions for a while now and 6.0's are plentiful, but of course I've heard nothing but bad out of the 6.0.

EGR delete, head studs, upgraded FICM, aftermarket up pipes, external oil cooler, coolant filter - things like that.  The big one is the studs. The problem with the pre 05  6.0's was the EGR cooler design was not optimal since it rests along the passenger side head, it put a lot of heat into the head and caused it to lift.  That and the fact that there are only 4 torque to yield bolts per cylinder.  Studs and EGR are the 2 things the 6.0 needs if you modify.

Id budget @ $6000 for everything if you have a dealer do it.  The head stud is something like a 20 hour job alone.

You can do it at home without pulling the cab.  It will take you an entire weekend though.  The other parts are all bolt on or replacement for things you have to remove to get the heads off anyhow.

Picked this up last week. 2000 Grand Cherokee Limited. 4.7 V8. It's snowed like crazy here lately and I've finally gotten a chance to play around with it. I'm in love with it,  and have had zero issues going anywhere with it.  I have a few things on order for it including a full flowmaster exhaust and intake.

Cute pups...

And that FZJ80 is a beast!
I'm considering picking up a 91 FJ80... An 80 series is my dream "expedition" rig. The "triple-locked" models all seem to be out of my price range - but I've found a couple deals withing driving distance on the "regular" models.

Current rig:
'12 JK Sahara, stock 32's, Barricade front bumper, Smittybilt 9500lb winch, Surco rack, second-hand lightbar, homemade front skidplate/airdam. I've got some more agressive 33's I haven't got mounted yet. It's the wife's DD as well, so I don't think you'll be seeing long-arms or 37" TSL's in it's future. We wanted a rig we could throw our stuff in, and  drive anywhere on the continent - not a trailer queen or rock buggy.

Were I you, I'd at least try to get a 93 or newer, 95 of newer if you can swing it, even not locked.  In 91 and 92 they had the 4 Liter engine which is pretty doggy.  In 93 and the start of FZJ80 they went to the 4.5L which is better, though certainly not overpowered!  Most aftermarket stuff in every category specifies a FZJ.  A 93 or 94 without optional ABS has a semifloat rear axle and rear drum brakes instead of disk.  In 95 they added in air bags, ABS, and OBDII.  I am cool without the airbags and ABS, but OBDII would have been nice when I was baselining it.

I'm considering picking up a 91 FJ80... An 80 series is my dream "expedition" rig. The "triple-locked" models all seem to be out of my price range - but I've found a couple deals withing driving distance on the "regular" models.

Too late... I actually passed up a '93 for this '91 - it was just much nicer all around. I just got in a little while ago, after some impromptu off-roading... These things are Beasts... Not nimble like the JK, but much more "tractor" like. It's no dragster, but I drove it home on the interstate at 70+ with no drama. After a little work, I think this thing could be driven anywhere on the continent.

I need to get some better pictures done...

Edit for new pics...

2001 Ram 2500 Cummins in some not-so-common Louisiana snow. Having 4wd in this snow and ice was invaluable.
