Just brought home two 2021 KTM 250 XC-F, one for me and the other for my 15yo son.
Attached File He has a 2019 KTM 150 two stroke and I am coming off of a 2005 Yamaha WR450F. We rode them a few laps around on our 4.5 mile woods track and we are both stoked. |

Rode my buddy's new 2020 YZ450F yesterday at Budds Creek. It's wide and a bit heavier feeling than my KX450F. Power seemed comparable, but the throttle was more twitchy coming off idle through quarter throttle. I would probably soften that part of the power out a bit to make it less tiring to ride. Overall good bike and I can see why people love them. E start is tits. I still want the 21 KX450 though.

Took home a 2021 300 XC TPI last week and put a few hours on it yesterday. This is my first 2-stroke, coming off a 2017 YZ450F. I struggled with the 450 because my wife and I spend a lot of time on single track and she is fairly new and would just chug along on her TT-R230 while I had to haul ass at all times due to the gearing. Also got tired of flame outs and kickstarting on the side of a mountain. This KTM XC feels like the ultimate combo of motocross and enduro. I was half tempted to go with the 250 variant (dealer had one of each), but I also wanted my wife to feel comfortable with this one if she hopped on.

Just ogling for now...looking at adding a DRZ 400S or SM to the stable. Had an E model DRZ in the early 2k's, sold it around 2008 or so. Had a KTM Duke II in the same time period, once I realized swapping rims/gearing on the DRZ all the time sucked.
Just getting back into bikes after a 10 year or so absence. Already picked up the VFR I always wanted (Gen 5...98-01), and now I want something to for dual sport duty and light trails. I've been all over the board, but I keep coming back to the DRZ. I'm 44, unlikely to be super hooligan on the street, and the DRZ makes (or can make) "enough" power. Plus, it's a tank known for reliability and long maintenance intervals. The 600 mile oil changes on the CRF450L(?) turned me off... |

Have you ridden a newer Ktm 250 2T? The 300 is definitely more powerful. I’ve read on the internet that the 250 hits stronger and is more “racey” but I have just never experienced this. I’ve ridden quite a few of each and have a 2020 TE250i, you can certainly tell there are 50 less CC in every part of the powerband |

Got my 13yr old a '21 KTM 85SX (19/16) in early Dec. Wed we went back and picked up a pair of '21 300 XC for me and my 15yr old. Was SUPER pumped to realize they are sequential VINs.
We are coming off YZ250's ('00 & '09) that have been great bikes, but it's time for them to move on to someone else. Attached File |
