First dirt ride in quite a while. Took a few miles to get my dirt legs back but did a total of 200 miles on Saturday. Stayed off of the single track since I was alone but still had a blast.

BFL's make even the heaviest of bikes feel svelte and agile in the dirt. Fact.

I'm not dumb enough to single track it very often (unless forced), but it does pretty well in anything where I have ground clearance on fresh knobs. When shit goes sideways and I have to pick it up a few times then it seems like the worst idea on the planet.

Sunset at Little Dumont Dunes.

Dante’s View- Death Valley NP.

Bob and Ward’s cabin. They’re supposedly burried there to the left.

Near Ibex mine.

Shadows getting long. Heading back to camp before the desert zombies come out.

We went to Chillitown MX over the weekend for their Halloween Moto Mayhem. Great turn out, full gates and great racing. Boy is coming back from a couple hard wrecks and trying to get his confidence back. Went 11th and 8th with a long tip over in the first and a short stuck in a rut the second moto. He passed about 9 kids after each incident and is starting to get back to his old self.  I told him to just go have fun enjoy himself dont worry about where he finished and just ride his dirt bike. When we left he said he wanted to do 29 more moto's this week lol. I think he really enjoyed himself lol.

His  "hit the gas and go fast" sign that he came up with one day while laughing an saying it to me.... We us it all the time in his sports now.

Great bike.

Great riding around there, rode around Cloudcroft for a few days this summer before heading up the GDR.

I got out a bit too, but nothing as grand.....local ski resort has a skills park and trails when the slopes are closed. Good practice.

All practice for the CDT next summer if I’m still here. If not I’ll be making a trip out here to do so. Working out some kinks with my basic setup. Even riding conservatively and changing the mapping this thing is a tire eater. Going to plan a change somewhere in MT before the ride home.

That's my camo strom to the right there on "Black Mountain Truck Trail" just outside of Ramona, CA.

We had our first trip to NC of the winter. Had a 8 kids go with us.My boy had lost his confidence after a couple crashes, but is finally getting back to himself after a couple months.

We raced at East Bend on Saturday. I think he had 12 kids in his 50 Jr moto. Lines up with the last gate pick. Gets a semi crappy jump is mid pack. Passes up to 3rd in a lap or two. He is closing in on 2nd coming down the back straight, I start running towards the berm for the corner because there is no way he is getting this thing stopped because he had it pinned knowing he was catching the boy in 2nd. He some how slams the brakes on slides the rear and hits the inside rut, run's it out wide on the exit to block pass the other boy and peels away in 2nd place. he ran out of laps but was catching the boy in first.

2nd moto he lines up 2nd gate pick right next to the boy that won the first moto. I told him if you win it you will take that big trophy back home to Ohio. He gets another shit start. mid to back of the pack. The boy that won the first moto goes down in the first turn. My boy is up to 3rd after 4 turns, and is catching the two infront of him... then the bike shut off. I get over to him he is devastated. Tears flowing, snot running out his nose, goggles on the ground. He says it just shut off. I check the gas. It starts up. I get the goggles on and mouth guard in, just as the boy that won the first moto comes passed him. He gets a turn away and I hear it cutting out. I try to stop him as he comes back by but he is focused and pushing the bike even as it bogs on him. He gets few more corners and it shuts off again... I get to him check the gas again, knowing that it's on, knowing that it just had a top end done with and 1hr of run time. I looked at the gas again. To notice that I left the damn choke on... I felt so bad, like horrible I just cost him all the confidence he had gained back. He is dead last, gets going passed back up to 8th to get 6th over all. I felt so bad I let him get his participation trophy, which is something I never do. Ugh gut wrenching heart break on my end. He is all smiles after getting the little trophy.

The next day we go to one of our favorite tracks. 421mx for some practice with all the buddy's. Then time to head home.

That's awesome. We make it down to EastBend a couple times a year. The 50 open and 7-8 year old class gets a lot of riders. My son has 1 more year in the 7-8 class. He rides a Husqvarna TC 50. I'll be forking out some cash for a 65 soon.

I haven't raced in over a decade but picked up a used KTM 125 and raced in the 40+ class there. I ended up 3rd but the roost from the 450's bruised me all up lol. I had a blast though. I had to sell the. Ike to pay for some foundation work on one of my rental properties. I miss riding more than anything.

i see you're in Ohio. Will you be doing the Battle in the Barn series?

They had a good turn out for the 50 open. 38 I think, he finished 16th and the first Jr across the finish.

My buddy raced 30 plus I think. He had a blast besides the 5-6 hr in the back of a windowless van each way lol.

The barn is a few hours away, from me still. So I doubt I take him there. Just as easy to load up and drive to NC, and he gets to ride a outdoor track.

We met Seven Henderson that is from WV through a buddy this trip, they ended up staying at the same hotel and swimming with all night and riding the next day to. Fast little guy from WV.

Also next time you at in the east bend area, hit up 421mx. We like it better then EB, the owners are super nice, the track is awesome, and it seems to rut up more then EB most days. Not as rutty as Center road the time we went last year, but fun rideable ruts.

We went to Willow Creek today. It's just outside Marietta, OH. Real nice track.

I think the best we've done in the open class at East Bend was 12th. He was running 9th but went down on the last lap.

Took the Strom out for a buddies shin dig down around Waco that he holds every year.  About 1/3 of the trip was off pavement but it's Texas so most of it was graded gravel stuff.  Even on the Strom I could maintain 50-60 on those roads.
