Thanks! Old school Vintique all steel wheels with gladiator half moon hubcaps. It cost more for the hubcaps than the wheels...

'97's are all D35's, IIRC.

There are also some very subtle differences in things on 97's that you have to watch for, especially earlier production ones. Things didn't quite settle down on the TJ line until '98.

Keep in mind there are no '96's... there are 95's and 97's built in 96.

Any type of flooding inside and that radio is toast. I had the same radio, the base mounted under the seat. Went through what I thought was a shallow puddle... wound up being a deap puddle and flooded the inside. Radio was toast. Bought another and mounted it up top with a metal molle panel that runs from just above the rear view mirror to the speaker bar crossmember. I learned, you don't mount any electronics down low in a jeep!

Thanks for the link. I'm assuming you'd need a ham license for this as it's not a 5w like the UV-5R?

You would need it to transmit on HAM frequencies.
Whe using on GMRS make sure that you have the radio setup to Transmit with the proper wattage for the GMRS band plan.

I currently have my Tech and GMRS licenses.

My Dad taught me that trick. Tried it on my '97 with sun faded flares (bought in '02). Kept the torch head about 10-12" away and fanned it back and forth like he said. Made them look brand new.

Damn, I really like those AEV wheels. I saw another jeep with them today and it hurt because I had to pass up a set last year, since they don't have enough offset for my lift.

Thankfully Synergy has a set-up compatible with higher-offset wheels. I had crazy poke on my JK but didn't want that kind of fitment with this JL.

negative.  everything old is priced retardedly.  everything military vehicle is priced retardedly.  couple old and military vehicle together, and now things are just stupid.

I'm rebuilding and modding a m38a1 jeep now.  Its expensive.

Spring rates arnt right on the front coil overs but I’m really happy with how it turned out otherwise. Especially the front bumper and aluminum long arms.

Traded my 20 JT for my new 23 JLUR yesterday,  absolutely love it. Already have a Rock Krawler lift and LOD sliders waiting to go on. As well as some other misc. Stuff. Thinking about going with the CavFab bumpers.

Got the front windows tinted to match the rears. Went with ceramic tint at 25 percent. Also put on some OEM LEDs, the stock halogens are awful and changed out the tail lights. I'm going to put on my sliders tomorrow.  After that it will be front bumper,  whenever it gets here and a RK No Limits 2.5 inch lift after I swap out the diesel springs for gas ones.

Got my LOD Destroyer sliders on yesterday. Missing a few brackets and bolts but was able to get them on. LOD is going to send the missing hardware, hopefully before my trip to Hidden Falls this weekend. I like them and should make it easier for the pups to get into the Jeep.

OMG - I finally got a UPS tracking number for my 3 Jeep Badges! 2 of the 3 were requested in June of 2022. The other 1 was from August of 2022.
The tracking came in the form of an email. My Jeep Badge of Honor app still shows them as processing.

I'll be getting my E-lockers installed around the end of the month, and I can kiss this damn Aussie locker goodbye. After that, the missus will be getting her LSs and new gears, then 35s

You want the weight and width of one tons. The combine to prevent rolling over and the strength of one tons is second to only a few custom and more expensive axles.

It doesn’t make it any less relevant. The logic still applies.  Full width one tons axles are going to provide more stability and strength.

Curries? $7,000 per axle just so you can bolt it in and don’t have to buy new wheels. These are problems I don’t have.

What is a ‘load bolt’? Sounds like something you add to a weak axle to try and make it almost as strong as something else.

My Curries aren't bolt in. I have to weld on the control arm brackets. And I had to buy new wheels.

A load bolt aids in preventing the ring and pinion from separating under high torque load.

Damn XJ guys 😂

You guys on the west coast have rocks big rocks and wide open areas for the wide turning radius .
Here in Mi we have mud and sand with trees all around .
A friend did the tons on his XJ and it’s bad ass but get him in the woods and it’s four point turn time . He doesn’t break anything and being on 44’s there isn’t much to challenge him here .
They have more fun watching me with my locked Dana 30/8.5 XJ on 33’s struggle .
