Are those stock wheels? Are we looking at an unmolested TJ?
Link Posted: 7/25/2022 12:15:44 PM EDT
[Last Edit: CJSCARH] [#3]

Our 1978 CJ-7 have had it for about 4 years now, a couple people up here (Crystal falls/Amasa area upper peninsula MI) with Cjs/Wranglers go on some decent technical rides and I mostly ride around our 65 acre property, nothing like most of u guys are seeing, don’t have any pics on my new phone will have some in the future. Plan on getting rid of Chinese Warn VR winch and just rolling with a come A long right now

Stock wheels, but when I got new rubber I went up a little bit from the roller skate size factory recommendation.

The inside has definitely been molested with bedliner, but it’s rust free, and sun faded, from AZ.

I jumped really far.

Here another shot in which my footprints can be seen where I walked out towards the water before cutting back around the front of the Jeep to get a some shots with unmolested sand.

I’m late to the party. I just got my first Jeep last week.
I’m really surprised by the gas mileage. Been getting 21.6 on the interstate going back and forth to work.

Your first trip to the off-road parts store will cure that good gas mileage.  Lift, big tires, and a new bumper winch combo will have you down in the middle to low teens in no time flat.

Not sure how I feel about the position of this, the plastic nut that holds the ball into the charger is bulky and doesn't allow full articulation. I do like how clean the 6" USB cable and right-angle adapters look. I don't plan on using it off-road, but hopefully the Magsafe is strong enough to hold it day to day.

The BFG A/T's (and all tires, really) pick up a certain size of rock. Back when I had them, there were a few places that had the appropriately grabby sized rocks laid as gravel roads, and yeah, you're tossing them big time.

But many other people might never see that same problem, or might see it with different tires. M/T's don't tend to have that problem because the treads are so wide, and road tires don't because the rocks they do pick up are super tiny.

I would not rely on a magnetic mount to hold a phone off road.

For you people who use Bulletpoint mounts, like I do, how do you get the arms tight enough to stay in play on the ball? Mine absolutely will not stay in place, even on a slightly bumpy road

Not an owner yet, but if I had that problem I'd take some heavy grit sandpaper to one or both of the ball/socket contact surfaces ....OR.... put some duct tape to the socket end that holds on to the ball.

Just a thot

I just crank then down really tight. Have not had a problem with the arms or ball mounts shifting.

If you noticed, the mounts come with a little metal letter F looking thing about 2 inches long in the box somewhere. I thought it was swag for a keychain, but it is a tool to use on the thumb knobs to really, really get them tight. Works awesome. Find it, use it, your mount will never shift again.

Pretty sure mine didn't come with that little tool, but I bought mine back when it was Bulletproof Designs. The design appears to have been changed slightly since then, too. My balls are still serrated, though.

I finally got a crescent wrench on the knob and got it torqued enough to stay in place.
