Gonna be a busy weekend

ETA: I went ahead and ordered a pair of DD driving lights, too. They’ll be my first real automotive wiring project (I have plug and play harnesses for the fogs) so hopefully it goes well

Got the tie rod so I completed my Barnes aluminum 1 ton steering setup. And installed fender liners, now I need to order flat fenders. Oh and I rebuilt my sway bar and repainted It, and just added the Evo no limits manual knob today. The electric motor was burned out and there’s no way I was paying $$$ for another one of those. I need to sell some more stuff out of the garage and buy some more jeep parts!

Probably one of the easier things I've done. The hardest part was fighting with those damn square winch nuts

The driving lights were a no-go. I thought I was going to be able to use the bumper's light mount holes to mount two pairs of lights, but the inside holes are too close to the winch and there was no room to plug the lights in.

Looks good. I can't tell if that's synthetic rope or cable, but if it's cable, spray it with WD-40 or something. Every person in my group with the badlands winch has rusted cable in 6 months.

Those AEV wheels looks great. I wish I could fit those on my Jeep. Friend of mine has a set available now.

That's why all the tow truck driver's use it.

We're making arrangements for Sheriff's Jeepfest in Jasper GA in September. Never been to this, so we'll see what it's like.

It's the synthetic version. It was only like $50 more than the steel so it seemed like a no-brainer.

I really wish they'd have kept the 2dr Unlimited a thing

Installated this on Easter. Not very glamorous but definitely needed with my 99-pound spare.

Tailgate opens and closes like butter now and the little clitoral hood over the camera does a great job of keeping water off the lens.

Does that come with 4.10 gears or do they let the 392 make that power?

This one has the “Recon” big tire package that comes with 4.56 gears. The regular Rubicon has 4.10.

I use a compressor and air my tires up in about 10 minutes for free. My nephew uses a power tank and airs his up in about 45 seconds for around 4 bucks each time.

Both have their pros and cons

Jeep life

Rotated tires and changed oil today. I managed to:

-find a leaking front diff
-smash my strong hand thumb and have to do everything weak-handed
-find a screw in my tire
-spill half a gallon of oil on the shop floor (my father-in-law's, not mine)

I'm done with today. I have to figure a way to drill a hole in my thumb nail with my weak hand.

Edit: I guess the pics aren't that good. I was in a hurry earlier. The front diff yoke is leaking, and the screw was JUST deep enough to become a slow leak. Had to go buy kitty litter for the oil spill, after smashing my head on the hose reel because my FIL is 7 inches shorter than I am

They’re cool but lugging a big tank around isn’t any different than lugging a compressor around. Plus I think it would take up even more room in the back.

Lol. Just watched the video and can't help but think our JL on 2" lift and 37's handled that drop with less drama last week. Of course we drug tail all the way down, but no biggie.

Last year we took the left line and, honestly, it's way easier to get yourself in trouble doing that.

I see several gentlemen in here are very knowledgeable with the mechanics of the jeeps. I am a newb but learning quick. We were hitting the trails, I was in 4Hi and feathering the clutch.... it was smoking and smelled bad. I learned from a cpl guys there that I should be in 4Lo and definitely don't feather the clutch, either in or out. They also told me it sounded like my clutch was slipping a little. Let it cool off then Finished the rest of the day using their advice and did well. Reverse is now hard to get into... and a cpl of the gears grind slightly getting into them.
I have a question-
Is there fluid that I toasted and should change to see if it fixes any clutch issues, before I take it to the stealership and have them diagnose it?

Any other recommendations or suggestions after coming off some pretty serious trails ( for here in MI..) lol

I did have my front E-locker stick while locked, that was a fun trip back home.... I got it home, took off the front diff cover, drained old nasty fluid, cleaned up everything with some brake cleaner. Got the E-locker unstuck. Turned it on and off a cpl times with the diff cover off, everything working as should. Sealed up and reinstalled the cover, refilled with Lucas hi-performance 80-90 gear oil and all is good with the locker and diffs. As bad as that front fluid was, I'll definitely be doing the rears today.

That difficulty/grinding shifting into gears sounds like the release bearing is shitting the bed. Between that and the slipping, probably time for a clutch job..
