For a number of years, I have been thinking about finding a way to add to my wife and I's income, other than raises at our 9-5 style desk jobs. We both have fairly stable and secure jobs in the technology field, with a high re-hire likelihood in the event of an employment SHTF moment, as well as months of liquid safety cash.
We're both mid-to-late 40s (I'll be 48 this year) and are eyeing retirement at 62, with or without SS. I don't know if either of us would be satisfied with stopping work entirely, although I think we might be satisfied with sizeable volunteer work (paid or unpaid).
Recently, the two have started to merge and I'm interested in looking for investment opportunities that could provide a revenue stream at some point that might also serve as a transition from full-time corporate to full or part time ownership (sole proprietor or partnership). It has been almost 20 years since my BBA, but I still get most of the basics. What I don't know is how to find what I'm looking for and where to start - I've worked for someone else for 32 years.
I'm open to any feedback and suggestions, so I hope this gets the ball rolling (and I admit, the $50k car dealership investment thread piqued my interest to post this).
