Those of you that are guns for hire: What do you bill hourly for simple network services? Things like configuring VLANs, installing WiFi point to point links, etc?

Billable rate has much to do with your certifications.

For that specifically?  $153/hr.

Did you mean BGP? Because I use GPG instead of PGP.

I don't do a lot of routing conf right now. I am usually adding a few static routes and some VRF. I have started down the Cisco certs path twice in the last 10 years and dropped it both times because the cost/benefit analysis just didn't work out. I would need a CCIE in order to generate more income than I do already and that isn't happening.

However, for freelancing I would probably need to get at least a CCNA and maybe Ruckus or CWNP certs.

Yeah, stupid phone.  Another example for advanced networking would be like VXLANs and configuring SDN controllers, or openflow switches or what have you.  Truth be told, as far as rates go, we're anywhere from $97/hr to $1500/hr depending on what's being done and who's doing it.

Anything with DMVPN, BGP, or advanced security related. IPS, Palo Alto firewall, and Sourcefire work. I have also billed at that rate for in-depth wifi troubleshooting or tuning.
