For me the primary considerations are size (15) screen, graphics, and CPU in that order.
I don't really care about RAM, SSD, etc. I can change those myself.
I want the best screen and graphics card I can get. Usually this coincides with the best CPU available.
The rest is a minor concern.
My current laptop, a few years old now, had a GTX 780m in it. Best I could do when I bought it. I can't even tell you what drive came with it. When I got it, I put in a 2TB platter drive and 3 of those little mSata SSD gadgets. 2 are raid0'd together for my boot drive. This stores my games and programs and such. The other is off by itself and it's basicaly a /users partition, but fiddled around a bit for windows.
It's also got 16 GB ram that I selected to perform best considering the processor, board, and intended use of the machine. Can't tell you what it came with.
