But you're missing the nice puffy clouds. Yours does have much better color though, I'll have to work on mine.

Nah, not a contest. Just as you said: Merely sharing different perspectives from the same location.

OK, maybe you can help me confirm this specimen I spotted on the Lost Mine Trail above the Chisos Basin, Big Bend National Park.

I'm rather certain it's a scrub jay, but which one? I think it's a Woodhouse's scrub jay but the lack of white "eyebrows" and gray around the eyes is causing me pause. It definitely has the gray on its back, though. Maybe a Mexican jay?

Hello fellow firearms & photography enthusiast...

[Last Edit: FredMan] [#19]
So I started my first "commercial" photography work yesterday.  As you guys know, I'm a forester by trade.  Well, part of forestry is real estate (and I do hold a RE license, among other things), part of selling property is having pictures in the listings, and it became apparent that the photography skills of our brokers are, shall we say, limited by equipment and skillset.

I've made a bit of a name for myself within the company with my photography, and a few weeks ago was approached by my broker to test-run some better photography to see if it helps getting properties sold quickly, and for more money (and in real estate, the faster it sells, the more it sells for).

Yesterday he and I did a grand tour of four new listings for some imagery.  It wasn't a great day for photography; overcast, scattered rain showers, and time constraints put us in the woods at the worst times of day.  Like the exact opposite of the golden hours.  I also made a conscious decision to use the Tokina 11-20 for all this work, and I'm finding some significant aberration limitations in this lens I hadn't noticed before.  I've still got an older 11-16, and never noticed this with that lens.

Now, it's not like I'm getting paid other than my regular salary for this work, and that doesn't bother me one little bit.  If this works out my ego gets stroked, I make more of a name for myself in the company, and there might be some extra bonus for me at some point.  Plus, I get to play with my gear on the clock!  And it keeps me out of the briar patch for at least some of the time (and I HATE the briar patch).

Outstanding!!  Mt. Washington?

I don't know what happened here, and frankly I don't want to know.  All I want to do is count my trees and GTFO.

I would say Say Mt Washington. Of course it could be the planet of Hoth in Star Wars? This is a heavy crop and blowup of a pic I took years ago of the presidential range. Taken from a different direction.  His is a beautiful shot.

And let me tell you, if you're seeing skunk cabbage, and you work in the woods, you're in a place you do NOT want to be.  And look at all that pollen piling up.

Please take this as constructive criticism!

I see lots of noise, particularly in the darker shots, and there's some focus sharpness issues, and on that one with the fluorescent light there's some evident chromatic aberration.  Don't know if you're shooting raw (and if you're not you should!) or if you're doing any post-processing work; but I imagine they could be cleaned up quite nicely with just a little effort.

Check this thread for the benefits of post work (if you haven't already!)

That body and lens should serve you well.
