Alright, so the clan is up to 70+ members now. Who *hasn't* done the raid? Or who's attempted it and wasn't able to clear it? Who LFG'd it or tried guided games and had a less than stellar experience? I'm thinking of putting together some low speed/high drag raid runs this weekend, to help people experience and learn about Leviathan. These are gonna be normal difficulty, very laid back, low pressure attempts. I ask a few things of y'all who want to try this. I ask that you be at least 270 power level, and the higher the better - you'll deal more damage against enemies, take less damage from enemies, and your rewards will drop at higher power levels as well. Classes/subclasses don't really matter, they're all viable, bring whatever you want. Hunters probably have the most challenging time in Leviathan, but if a leveled hunter is what you've got, cool, let's roll, you'll be fine. Bring whatever weapons you want, that doesn't matter a whole lot either. Nameless Midnight is good, hell, let's be honest, it's probably the best answer to most situations that require a kinetic weapon in PVE. Hand cannons are fine, pulses are fine, auto rifles are good, Merciless is good, Wardcliff is good, cluster bomb launchers are good. You won't really need a shotgun or a sniper rifle, but if you like using them, cool, bring it. I ask that you come in with an open mind, and be willing to listen and follow instruction - part of that is having a decent mic. You need to be able to hear everyone else in the fireteam, and we need to be able to hear you. I say decent mic, because it's a pet peeve of mine, but if anyone's still using them, I don't like Kinect mics because they tend to pick up a lot of background noise. But if that's all you've got, we'll work around it. Along with that, don't be shy. Speak up, ask questions, call out. I've been part of too many raid teams where for whatever reason, people are shy and don't really say anything. There are no stupid questions, only sarcastic answers - not really, but if you're not sure about something, please say so and I'll be glad to explain what we're doing and why. There will be sections of the raid where we need to call out specific situations or circumstances so teammates can respond accordingly, otherwise at best we'll lose some progress in the encounter, and at worst it'll be a wipe. Communication is encouraged! Don't be shy! Plan to dedicate some time to this. Accounting for inevitable wipes that'll occur from learning and shit-happens type things, depending on how the team as a whole is laid out and how we're doing, figure at least 3-4 hours for an initial run. We're going slow and explaining in detail as we go. Like any first-time raid or a raid you may not be super familiar with, it can be a lot to take in at once, so we're gonna take it easy and talk things through from each different point of view and each different task or role a person may have at whatever encounter. If we've got guys in here who know the raid and are willing, I'd really appreciate any extra help as well. Having extra players who know what to expect will help a ton with the why and how of what we're doing at any given encounter. I'm hoping to have a team together and ready to go around 7-8PM eastern this Friday for starters, and I'll keep going as long as we've got people and time throughout the weekend. View Quote I've never attempted the raid, so it will all be new to me. Have a good mic and am down to take it slow and learn from y'all. Gamertag is "rippinboostalk". |

I'm in for a teaching run or two.
There's a few parts i haven't done, such as run the crystal at dogs, run the gauntlet, stay in the calus room during the final parts etc. This would be a good time to attempt those and see other aspects of the raid That and I'm always down to help where i can. Also, Cam, Rickety, and I are talking about getting into some trials this weekend. We could use a 4th if anyone feels up to the task. |

I'd really like to get in on a sherpa raid, but I'm not sure I'll have time this weekend.

So the first group looks something like Fallen, rippin, gifted, drok, Clutch has graciously offered to help, and tentatively Jeanyus is in depending on scheduling.
Cool, we’ll try to get this thing started around 7pm or so eastern on Friday. |

Lol destiny, they swap the nightfall because of a glitch and the new map glitched and didnt spawn enemy or let us through one of the light walls last night

First come, first served, so our first attempt will consist of:
Fallen (tentatively) rippinboostalk Gifted drok Clutch and myself will round the team out, with Hammr available if needed, and Jeanyus, we'll have you on deck to fill in if someone else can't make it or has to drop out otherwise. Venelar's out for Friday, but I plan on making as many pulls as I/we can if we've got people and time this weekend. |

I'll be on and ready a little before 6. If you end up not needing me, I'll drop off for a little while to get my son fed and ready for bed before getting back on later for whatever other shenanigans everyone wants to do. Still need a nightfall and a few more crucible games to finish milestones for the week.

Great job everyone last night. I think we really made good progress overall. Especially on the gauntlet, everyone communicated well, we had a few missed calls with the gates and everyone kept cool, stuck it out and recovered. I really liked seeing the team shots and rockets and supers and everything else flying across the way helping other people out on their plates as well.
That's what this raid and raiding in general is all about - for the most part, forget the mechanics, forget the stick skill, weapons, classes and subclasses, abilities, all that silly shit. All that stuff can be taught/learned or worked around. Ultimately it all boils down to communication and teamwork. If your commo and/or teamwork sucks, your raid group is gonna suck. Period. Everyone relies on each other, from the guys defending the plates in the opening, the guys going to get the standards, gauntlet runners, gate openers/shooters, the group running the gardens with the spores are relying on guidance and protection from the prism weapon shooters up top, and the prism shooters up top are relying on the group below to move smartly, quickly to maximize damage stacks when it's go time. Along with all the other encounters in the raid, it's all about communicating and working together as a team. About dogs - one thing we struggled with was ensuring that assigned people go back to their specific dogs, and it left us with a few runs where five out of the six dogs were pretty weak and could be killed easily by one player, but there was one that was at or near full health that would have really required some work with a lot of stacks. The aesthetic design of this encounter when the damage phase starts makes this pretty confusing and hectic, what with the howling of the main boss dogs, all the extra trash mutts running around, the beast handlers, the screen turns dark, the music crescendos, and we're on a timer so people are scrambling trying to do something, anything, before running for cover so they don't die. It's easier said than done, but my advice for this part, if you're a little frazzled and twisted and confused is for starters, slow down. Someone in the group last night said it, forgive me but I can't remember who, take a few seconds to orient yourself before moving. We don't need a ton of burst damage, but what we do need is *consistent* damage. You get four DPS attempts before you're locked out of the safe room and have to kill or be killed. Levels of importance in this fight is to first and foremost, stay alive, then after that, once we get ready to go for damage, to make sure you make it back to whatever mutt you're assigned to each and every time, until that dog is dead. Great run, guys. I'll be on tonight with the full intent of seeing it to the end and finishing it out. |

I thought about a few things last night after i kinda mentally replayed some of the encounters and runs we had last night.
First and foremost, I'm not picking on anyone, i'm not calling anyone out, i don't think anyone sucks... etc. I know this is the first time some of you have even seen the raid so you're just as blind as i was on my first run. (Except ws had me in his backpack. ) I noticed a weak spot during the gauntlet, and kinda stepped on Quintin's toes and made a change. It worked for the better as Gifted turned out to run the gauntlet better than he did the outside part. (Again not picking on you, but it is true.) There's also a change that should be made for the dogs. Right side is doing fine as far as i can tell. (Great job fellas!) Left side however is having some issues with DPS on the furthest dog. (Once again, not picking on you Drok, but i have an idea.) The closest dog to the safe room on the left side is getting handled just fine, as well as the tree dog (Mine). I believe these dogs are easier to get to and get back to the safe room from. Which gives the player a few more seconds for DPS. I have the advantage on left side as i'm running the prism and already elevated with a better view, so i'd like to switch with Drok and take the furthest dog, we'll give him the tree dog. Which i think he'll have an easier time of finding during go time when things get hectic. Plus it's a much shorter distance back to the safe room, which will take away a bit of the panic of getting back. Or we can give him the closest dog and switch up the whole left side.. I can throw 1 or 2 pulse grenades and fire a rocket causing some decent DPS and have plenty of time to make it back from the furthest dog, and if needed fire a rocket or throw a remaining grenade at one of the left side dogs if someone needs a hand with theirs. There's actually a rock i can stand on and see all three of the left dogs at go time. It's Quintin's raid, so i'll let him make the call. Just an idea i had. |

I have not attempted the raid at all but would love to give it ago with the understanding that I suck, as ricketty and clutch can attest. I know that we have some great players that know what they are doing as well as approaching encounters from a very analytical perspective. It is great that those same players have the patience to help those of us that struggle. I appreciate the hell out of that.
