Alright, so the clan is up to 70+ members now.

Who *hasn't* done the raid?  Or who's attempted it and wasn't able to clear it?  Who LFG'd it or tried guided games and had a less than stellar experience?

I'm thinking of putting together some low speed/high drag raid runs this weekend, to help people experience and learn about Leviathan.  These are gonna be normal difficulty, very laid back, low pressure attempts.

I ask a few things of y'all who want to try this.

I ask that you be at least 270 power level, and the higher the better - you'll deal more damage against enemies, take less damage from enemies, and your rewards will drop at higher power levels as well.

Classes/subclasses don't really matter, they're all viable, bring whatever you want.  Hunters probably have the most challenging time in Leviathan, but if a leveled hunter is what you've got, cool, let's roll, you'll be fine.  Bring whatever weapons you want, that doesn't matter a whole lot either.  Nameless Midnight is good, hell, let's be honest, it's probably the best answer to most situations that require a kinetic weapon in PVE.  Hand cannons are fine, pulses are fine, auto rifles are good, Merciless is good, Wardcliff is good, cluster bomb launchers are good.  You won't really need a shotgun or a sniper rifle, but if you like using them, cool, bring it.

I ask that you come in with an open mind, and be willing to listen and follow instruction - part of that is having a decent mic.  You need to be able to hear everyone else in the fireteam, and we need to be able to hear you.  I say decent mic, because it's a pet peeve of mine, but if anyone's still using them, I don't like Kinect mics because they tend to pick up a lot of background noise.  But if that's all you've got, we'll work around it.

Along with that, don't be shy.  Speak up, ask questions, call out.  I've been part of too many raid teams where for whatever reason, people are shy and don't really say anything.  There are no stupid questions, only sarcastic answers - not really, but if you're not sure about something, please say so and I'll be glad to explain what we're doing and why.  There will be sections of the raid where we need to call out specific situations or circumstances so teammates can respond accordingly, otherwise at best we'll lose some progress in the encounter, and at worst it'll be a wipe.  Communication is encouraged!  Don't be shy!

Plan to dedicate some time to this.  Accounting for inevitable wipes that'll occur from learning and shit-happens type things, depending on how the team as a whole is laid out and how we're doing, figure at least 3-4 hours for an initial run.  We're going slow and explaining in detail as we go.  Like any first-time raid or a raid you may not be super familiar with, it can be a lot to take in at once, so we're gonna take it easy and talk things through from each different point of view and each different task or role a person may have at whatever encounter.

If we've got guys in here who know the raid and are willing, I'd really appreciate any extra help as well.  Having extra players who know what to expect will help a ton with the why and how of what we're doing at any given encounter.  I'm hoping to have a team together and ready to go around 7-8PM eastern this Friday for starters, and I'll keep going as long as we've got people and time throughout the weekend.

I'd be interested to get in on that.  I've got a ~286 hunter, which seems like it was a bad class choice the more I play.

I've never attempted the raid, so it will all be new to me.  Have a good mic and am down to take it slow and learn from y'all.  Gamertag is "rippinboostalk".

Well crap. Need me to get another box and receipt? I'm having a hell of a time trying to find those damned rockstar cans. Everyone here sells them, but they're not the Destiny cans.

I'm in for a teaching run or two.

There's a few parts i haven't done, such as run the crystal at dogs, run the gauntlet, stay in the calus room during the final parts etc. This would be a good time to attempt those and see other aspects of the raid

That and I'm always down to help where i can.

Also, Cam, Rickety, and I are talking about getting into some trials this weekend. We could use a 4th if anyone feels up to the task.

On the flip side of that, there was a bug in Everquest nicknamed Innoruuk's machine gun. For a small amount of time Rangers just had to target a mob in a zone and was able to take down raid booses and such with no danger to themselves. They could just fire off arrows from one side of a zone to another with no aggro from said raid boss.

Clutch and myself will round the team out, with Hammr available if needed, and Jeanyus, we'll have you on deck to fill in if someone else can't make it or has to drop out otherwise.

Venelar's out for Friday, but I plan on making as many pulls as I/we can if we've got people and time this weekend.

Alright, no worries and be careful. We’ll still have you penciled in, but @TheJeanyus, be ready.

ws450r is also available as well if we need help. That gives us a lot of team flexibility, and Clutch, Hammr and Ws, I thank all y’all. If we need to, depending on how things go, we can rearrange and stack the team where we can have three or four guides, and either three or two new raiders if needed to really stomp the raid out. We may get more help in if we end up struggling on encounters, but we’ll see how it goes.

Right now, we’ve got Fallen with the Jeanyus as a sub, rippin, Gifted and drok. Clutch and I will be the tour guides. See y’all tonight.

Hope the raid went awesome for you guys.  I'll hopefully be on tomorrow, but can't promise as I'm still getting ready for flying out.

Some D2 news:
-4 'seasons' in year one.  Clan progress is wiped at the end of each season and the perks per level change.  Possibly rewards based on clan level at the end of the season.  Clan banners for in game will change every season.  (I think it's the banner you get from Poncho)
-When seasons roll over, they'll be dropping the big content and balance patches
-Each season will have a theme and specific unlocks for completing it.  Unsure what.
-1,500 YEARS of gametime played during Iron Banana and Bungie dissected all of it.
-Gear will be directly purchasable with tokens instead of random rolls.
-Looking at alternatives to tokens while keeping them for some things.  'not ideal' (fucking duh.)
-Perks and Stats will get completely updated/overhauled.
-'Updated' weapons (Unsure of meaning)
-Bulk shader deletion (thank god)

Starting in Season 2: (at least one more faction rally and Iron Banner before then)
-Season 2: The Dawning will be sometime 'soon' after PC launch.  IMO Thanksgiving ish is likely.  Ice Hockey, snoball fights, etc minigames in social spaces.  Some effects will be global across the game.  Armor preview below.
-Ornaments are coming to Faction, Trials, and Iron Banner gear.  To unlock them, each item will have a specific quest to complete with the ornament for that part being unlocked.
-Weapons will rotate/shuffle at season change.  New and refreshed/rotated guns.  Unsure on exactly how though.
-Bright engrams will rotate their drops as well.  This includes everything in them.  Some of the Season 2 stuff looks badass.  (see below)
-Shaders will stay, but Bright Engram content is season specific and will be locked until it gets added to general rotation or something.  (the last bit is me, since it seems stupid to flat out lock it)
-Clarion Call events are a non-planet specific activity that grants a 2x XP boost
-New crucible map(s) when seasons roll over.  Same is Iron Banner and Trials, you have to do something to unlock them globally.

I thought about a few things last night after i kinda mentally replayed some of the encounters and runs we had last night.

First and foremost, I'm not picking on anyone, i'm not calling anyone out, i don't think anyone sucks... etc.
I know this is the first time some of you have even seen the raid so you're just as blind as i was on my first run. (Except ws had me in his backpack. )

I noticed a weak spot during the gauntlet, and kinda stepped on Quintin's toes and made a change. It worked for the better as Gifted turned out to run the gauntlet better than he did the outside part. (Again not picking on you, but it is true.)
There's also a change that should be made for the dogs.

Right side is doing fine as far as i can tell. (Great job fellas!)
Left side however is having some issues with DPS on the furthest dog. (Once again, not picking on you Drok, but i have an idea.)
The closest dog to the safe room on the left side is getting handled just fine, as well as the tree dog (Mine). I believe these dogs are easier to get to and get back to the safe room from. Which gives the player a few more seconds for DPS.
I have the advantage on left side as i'm running the prism and already elevated with a better view, so i'd like to switch with Drok and take the furthest dog, we'll give him the tree dog.
Which i think he'll have an easier time of finding during go time when things get hectic. Plus it's a much shorter distance back to the safe room, which will take away a bit of the panic of getting back. Or we can give him the closest dog and switch up the whole left side..
I can throw 1 or 2 pulse grenades and fire a rocket causing some decent DPS and have plenty of time to make it back from the furthest dog, and if needed fire a rocket or throw a remaining grenade at one of the left side dogs if someone needs a hand with theirs. There's actually a rock i can stand on and see all three of the left dogs at go time.

It's Quintin's raid, so i'll let him make the call. Just an idea i had.

Great job everyone last night.  I think we really made good progress overall.  Especially on the gauntlet, everyone communicated well, we had a few missed calls with the gates and everyone kept cool, stuck it out and recovered.  I really liked seeing the team shots and rockets and supers and everything else flying across the way helping other people out on their plates as well.

Great run, guys.  I'll be on tonight with the full intent of seeing it to the end and finishing it out.

I think I can speak for all of us when I say that we appreciate both of y'all's help and patience.  I ("rippin") was talking to gifted, I believe, about taking the time to orient yourself and trying to be mindful of the few landmarks that are in there so you always have a sense of how to get to your assigned dog then back to the safe room.  I found that doing so helped me a lot, as opposed to my first few runs of "oh shit, haul ass and shoot any dog you see!"  Like you said, I think those of us on the ground just need to take a breath and simply get to our assignments, even if we lose a little time getting there.

I have a thing tonight, but can probably be on by ~10:00 - 10:30 eastern.  No hard feelings if y'all continue without me, but I would definitely like to see this thing through to the end at some point.

Yup, that did seem to work out better.  Meaning no offense to anyone.  I only tried being a runner, so who knows how I would have fared as a shooter.

It's probably hard to change assignments too much while we are all still learning, but I think we shouldn't hesitate to switch things up after a few repeated fails, especially once we all understand the essentials of what needs to be done.

I have not attempted the raid at all but would love to give it ago with the understanding that I suck, as ricketty and clutch can attest. I know that we have some great players that know what they are doing as well as approaching encounters from a very analytical perspective. It is great that those same players have the patience to help those of us that struggle. I appreciate the hell out of that.

Yea, we touched on that idea last night.  I even tried the landmark(gold rock) thing and by the time i found it i felt like i had to get back since it took too long to find my bearing. Haha.. the tree one or near the left door may be better since it felt like i was always coming across those ones.

Not gonna hurt my feelz  you'd think as many runs we had id of found it easy by then haha.

your words.. not mine.

You don't suck.. you might have an issue keeping up, but that's because we play at a high speed very aggressive pace.

Everyone has different ways of playing, that's what makes the community so much fun and diverse.

We all have that one person we play well with. You know, the guy (or gal) that knows what your playstyle and can feed or adapt on the fly to work with it.

Quintin and Outrider
Rickety and I
Etc..

I haven't run across anyone that truly "sucks" at this game. Just plenty of different playstyles.
