Some info from Abraxas (game developer) at E3… [DEV] Abraxas - Posted: 2003-05-15 15:24:46 Day 2 of the show here. The doors will be opening in about 40 minutes, and I'm still bleary-eyed from yesterday. Although I must soon go in search of aspirin, I wanted to drop a note to everyone and give you a quick update. So I guess you've all seen the new screenshots, eh? I sense a bit of excitement from you, and that's definitely what we like to see! I do want to caution all of you about making predictions on when the next patch will show up, and exactly what will be in it. Consider much of what we're showing to be a "preview" of many things to come. We're showing a lot here, but many of these features are not close to being finished yet. After the show, we will continue to work on them and polish them until they are ready for release. We have plenty to keep us busy through the rest of the year, so please don't expect to see all of these features immediately after the show. There is still much work for us to do. I will say that the features that you will most likely see next will be the medics, the new interface and all new soldier and opfor models and skins. Stryker and various SF components will follow through out the summer and fall. We'll keep you posted as we get closer to the next patch. Okay...time to go find that aspirin. _________________ Abraxas Executive Producer/Director America's Army ---------------------- and a guy posting on AAO website regarding an article on E3... HA|[BBR]eastonhockey19 - Posted: 2003-05-16 06:27:25 From http://www.e3insider.com/insideE302/article026.htm here are the most note worthy sections. "the America's Army team will now embark on an aggressive schedule of updates and add-ons." "Wardynski noted, "Between now and Christmas, we will release monthly expansion packs that will add six new occupations and twelve or more new levels to the game." "The new Special Forces component will be rolled out in phases beginning in June, with the Special Forces Assignment and Selection (SFAS) process. If gamers pass muster, they can continue with the Special Forces Qualification Course (Q-Course), exploring new combat specialties including medic, weapons specialist, engineer, communications, and intelligence." "In the winter, the final game module will roll out with new mission types that include search and rescue, direct action, surveillance and reconnaissance, and unconventional warfare. And, in a major new twist, the game will incorporate friendly, enemy, and non-combatant A.I. " "Beyond the new gameplay additions, forthcoming America's Army updates will include new character models, a new menu-system interface, and new in-game browser functionality and in-game stats features." ---------------------------------------
