I'll probably give them a virus.

I'm poor. Two of my TVs fried. Get to buy new ones. So of course I'm going to go all out and get led beast TVs.

Plus I gotta let you win something for a little while.

I just got fed up with the crappy Intel 4000 graphics on my laptop and dropped the bank on a Y510p.

i7 Haswell
2x GT750M 2gb vidya cards
1tb hdd + 8gb cache SSD
8gb ram (photoshop is my biggest ram hog, and 8 is enough for everything but huge stitched panos)
1920x1080 display

I paid 999 on newegg for it. Amazon has it a little cheaper but they were being assholes and wouldn't ship it to APO.

I used to have a TX750 several years ago.  What a pain in the ass.  Upgrading to a modular PSU was one of the best upgrades I ever made.

Would have gone for something from sager or msi.... Sli mainstream gpus are going. To make more heat and can have poor driver support for certain games compared to a higher end single gpu.

I'm looking to get into the PC gaming world and I need some help buying a gaming pc. I'm really wanting to play games like Dayz, The Forest, and things of that nature.

I have never built a computer and really have no desire to do so. Can anyone recommend somewhere that builds gaming pc's? I found a place on Ebay that builds them and they have great reviews, but I really have no idea what I would need.

I wouldn't personally buy any pc's from eBay, there's a guy i know at work who buy's pc's built from those guys on ebay and he has to buy a new one every 3 years and thinks that is normal.

If you don't want to take the time to put one together there are several options but they are all pretty expensive if you want a descent rig.

Origin PC
Alienware
Digital Storm

Building one is easier than you think! It really requires no special tools (got a Phillips screwdriver?) and no special or secret training.

Start here:

Watch all 3 vids.

My 12 year old son and I just built our first custom computer. HE did the majority of the build.

http://pcpartpicker.com is a fantastic site to choose parts and compare prices.

I finished mine a few months ago, but never got around to posting it here. I have a lot less in it than what it shows here. A budget gamer can be had if you are patient and browse craigslist, forums, gaming buddies, etc

This Combo I got at microcenter for $130 I have the processor OC'd to 4.6 ghz and according to benchmarks I am at the equivalent to a stock 8350, faster than i7 930 and i5 3570

CPU: AMD FX-6300 3.5GHz 6-Core Processor ($112.99 @ NCIX US)
Motherboard: MSI 970A-G43 ATX AM3+ Motherboard ($64.99 @ Newegg)

This I got in trade for some brass to a fellow ARFcommer gamer

CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Seidon 120M 86.2 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler ($62.97 @ OutletPC)

The memory I got on sale at microcenter for $45

Memory: Crucial Ballistix Sport 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory ($77.99 @ Newegg)

The SSD drive I found on sale at Staples for $59

Storage: Kingston HyperX 3K 120GB 2.5" Solid State Drive ($97.98 @ Best Buy)

The HDD was from my old computer so the cost was free

Storage: Seagate Barracuda 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($70.48 @ OutletPC)

The 750ti I found on open box special at Frys, although it was when they first came out, so I actually paid $160

Video Card: Asus GeForce GTX 750 Ti 2GB Video Card ($139.99 @ Newegg)

This card was from my old build so its now a dedicated PhysX card $100

Video Card: Asus GeForce GTX 650 1GB Video Card

Case was found NIB on craigslist for $50 and included 2 140mm fans and a fan controller and PSU

Case: Antec SONATA III 500 ATX Mid Tower Case w/500W Power Supply ($124.99 @ NCIX US)
Power Supply: Antec EarthWatts Green 500W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply ($69.98 @ SuperBiiz)

Free from old build

Optical Drive: Asus DRW-24B1ST/BLK/B/AS DVD/CD Writer ($19.98 @ OutletPC)
Total: $842.34

MY TOTAL $564

Itelluwhut though, it was a bit overkill but it solved my overheating and airflow issues in the interim until I was able to afford the new build. I had put it together in 2008 and other than an upgrade in 2010 to the then brand new gtx460 i had never had a problem with it. Airflow was its Achilles. It had a long run.

Asus Rampage IV Extreme Mobo
Intel 4930k running at 4.6 GHZ under water dedicated corsair unit
Corsair Vengeance DDR3 32 GB
Neutron GTX SSD 256 GB and a 1.5 TB WD Black
1 Titan Signature and a 480 GTX for Physix (this needs fixing lol)
3 Asus Rog Swift 2560 x 1440 screens
1300 Watt EVGA PSU

All of the above mounted to a kitted out Obutto R3volution Desk / Chair.

As you can see from the above I made a horrid mistake when I got the extra 2 screens in Nov.....

That Titan Signature is not going to run them (tried hubs they all don't work at all for some reason meh) so just been using the center screen as I already was.

As of the 28th...I have 2 1080ti FTW3 cards on Pre-order.....the 2 additional screens will finally WORK! lol.

Will relegate the old Titan to Physix since the 480 is the only water cooled card still will remove my external setup at that point back on air till water blocks come out for those and or I can affoard it again.

All of that is crammed into a chopped up Nvidia full tower case from 8 years ago lol.  (a DG-87 case is in my future....B-day in Aug hopefully!)

Is that card and fan just huge or a small case?

It is a very small case 13" x 6.5" x 9.5" known as a mini ITX build. The whole thing is about as small as a shoebox.

Edit: for scale

My 12 year old son and I just built our first custom computer. HE did the majority of the build.

The hardest part about building a PC is cable management. Think that through first and everything else is easy

M5A99FX
8X5X AMD Processor (Don't know off the top of my head, eight cores though)
Corsair Water cooling (Love it. PC is dang near silent most of the time. I had to add a large, quiet fan to keep airflow moving.)
GTX960 Card
32Gigs o RAM
~256 PCIe NVMe SSD
Samsung SSD for shit that needs to be fast but not on the main SSD
1 TB Spinny drive
Windoze 7 Pro

I was wondering if it was worth upgrading the MOBO for NVMe/M.2 slots.

Also, can you recommend a wifi card? I'm not running a cable in an apartment.
