Quoted: Today I achieved my goal of 500 cycling miles for the year. My cycling has mostly been on the Concept 2 bikeerg but I can say the difference between now and when I started (April 8th) is night and day. My cardio-respiratory fitness right now is far superior to what it was before the blood clots. 1000 miles for the year will be challenging, but doable, if I can pace myself and keep my muscles/tendons/ligaments healthy. Thanks to @slbrugby for starting this challenge. It has been very helpful in keeping motivated. View Quote congrats @corwin1968, keep on pedaling and getting fitter 43/1480 brought my bike into the LBS last week to have the complimentary service completed on it. The front ISO speed now creaks like crazy. Tech said he felt like it was a little too compliant, so he tore it down and put it back together. That didn't help with how loose it was and now it creaks (didn't before). I guess he put a work order into trek to see if they want to replace parts since this would be considered warranty work. Can't wait to get it back to the shop and get the creak gone. Currently on vacation, so I've been able to ride each day so far. small setback with the SL6, hopefully it can get fixed up soon. |

Today was a good day!
25.7 miles at my local trail - I rode 3 laps for the first time. I commonly ride 2 there but haven't tried 3 before. I skipped a half mile beginner section on two of the laps though due to mud but still counts for me. This mileage put me over 1000 for the year, all trail. Another 184 miles for this month. 2019 for reference I had 1056 miles in 99 rides.....My goal for this year was 1100, and it looks like I should easily get 1400 instead. Attached File |

Got in 100km today...62 freedom units
Now back on track to 9k miles for this year. The heat today was 102 during the ride so kinda felt it some. Got in 270 miles in this week....not sure about next week.. |
|
29/1558 -- reached my goal for the year.
Hit up another local group ride. I'm still only riding with the B group, but they ride fast enough that my heart rate stays up for most of the ride. I find myself putting in more work on the flats than expected to not lose the wheel and they always go hammer down on the hills. Shut up legs, keep up. |
|
27/2429...fun group ride to support a buddy that just got in to cycling ..starting to do more group rides and less Zwifting to break it up a little. turns out I'm not bad for a 55 yo former fattie..Beat everyone in the "balls out" section except a Grad Student half my age and I stayed on his wheel until the finish.

36/2484 Coffee ride with the local geezers in my club. Lots of talking about the TdF

Ok guys,
I have been watching this thread.... I did not get serious on back on the bike till about June - amazing what a break up will do to you.... For the year I am just shy of 800 miles. I use the Endomondo app on my phone... What is the best tracker - would like to get better info - miles/heart rates etc. Red |

Use whatever works for you. If you are looking to get some better info, look into a cycling computer. It can pair up with many different things, speed pods, cadence sensors, power meters and then upload all your data right to Strava (or your desired tracking app). Lots of cool stuff to chase on Strava as well - you get to chase after segments and watch yourself improve as time goes on. |

Had to take a week off but finally got back on today.
Since my last post: 29/529 |
|
42/6093 back on schedule for 9k this year. We will see as it gets cooler here. Did about 100 miles the last few days in 102 plus temps.
|
|
8 miles today..From The parking lot of Mt. Scott near Lawton, OK ...up the mountain..and then back down. 2.6 miles of 7-8% climb felt like pure hell on these 55yo lungs. I managed 240watt avg and 13th place out of the 47 people that tried it (according to Strava). The fastest rider of the day beat a 7yo KOM by doing 435 normalized watts.

65/70 Sunday/Monday now at 6287 for the year. On track for 9k still. Yesterday should have been a rest day "recovery day" but a team mate called and said "Let's go on a chill ride" sure lol average speed 18.5 mph 3k feet of climbing....lol
Oh I signed up for Trainer Road last week so I can get more structure in my workouts for next season's racing. |
|
I had a couple of weeks off thanks to COVID, and luckily it was when all the rain came through anyways.
But got back after it this week, 51 miles for the week and at 1065 for the year which is a new milestone. |

My 9 year old son wanted to best his longest ride of 25 miles yesterday. We ended up doing 30 miles - he was one happy camper. |

Country ride with some local folks ..Dog comes out on the road. I was up front and I gassed it a little and the dog turns away and goes after the folks behind me. Someone panic stops and creates a chain collision. No one seriously hurt but from what I heard it was a stupid wreck |

Today about 40 miles in a truck drove by and tossed an apple at my head...hit me square on. I had my front and rear cameras running however....only running 30FPS so the license plate was hard to read....so now changing that to 60FPS so I can read license plates better. I am fine...did not fall off at all just was pissed. There was zero traffic so there was no reason to toss shit at me... |

Riding with a married couple who race gravel. Worked my ass off just for a 13mph average in the hills around Guthrie, Ok |

One of you guys on Strava has a Turner Flux - can you PM me? I'm thinking about buying a NOS Flux frame and building up a new mt bike.

30.1/1349 I'm back in action...been wrapped up in a couple bastard projects at work for the last 5 months...too many 7-day work weeks resulting in 80-90 mile months .
Due to the stress causing me to not be able to sleep past 3-4 am I DID start spinning pretty consistently on my stationary bike, though, and I log that time into my Cyclemeter app as a "run" to separate the stats (but not strava because lazy). So I have another 20 hours of spinning ,slow rpm/high resistance, and HIIT to add to my miles... so I put myself at a net 1529 miles. I think I can still get to my 2k goal (especially if I continue pedaling in the mornings). |
|
~44/7379 Rode with a friend that did a 50k run last week....so I went slow for him
Then I felt good so I went and hunted a Strava KOM that is right next to my house that had been bugging me. It was a mountain bike one..so I had to pull out the mountain bike and hit it. Tomorrow maybe 50-60 not really sure...we have a few more weeks of nice weather than most rides are going to be on the training inside which really sucks. |

2000 miles for this year (my goal) may not be in the cards, but we'll see. Beautiful fall day. Lots of riders on the MTB trails. Too many, in fact. But, good to see people out and about. |
|
I've not been riding as much lately, we have resumed trail building so that has taken up time. Fixing to open a "downhill" line with the first set of gap jumps in this area and some mandatory drops (downhill as in the best we can do with the available elevation but it's a solid 1 minute line with multiple berms/drops/jumps). Every other line at my trail and others around have rollable features so this is an adventure.
I dug for 3.5 hours today, then rode 17.3 miles today which puts me at 1203 trail miles for the year. |
|
I've been off the bike, more than on, for various reasons, but here's my updated mileage from 09/01/2020 to 10/23/2020

I didn't buy my gravel bike until May but I put 450 miles on it before the snow hit. I did a 20 and 25 mile race this fall too. Next year, I'm going to do a 40 and 62 mile race, maybe a few more if they aren't too far. I should get to 1k next year.

Did a major hard trainer workout Saturday...then Sunday rode with the family on my fixed gear bike. Getting it ready for winter riding/training.

Just found this forum. Started riding this spring with working from home because of covid. Never been a rider before but needed to keep my mind and body busy. Been great for me. Down a pant size. Feel so much better. Shooting for 2000 miles. I got an old mountain bike out for going in the snow. |

103mi t-shirt ride today...put me over my goal for the year of 3500mi.

Rode 18 on the road today, to get me over 1500. Was a "rest" week so I only had 43 for the week.

116 miles with 11,456 feet of climbing today.....a little tired lol
|
|

Another 100 mile Saturday....not as hilly just 3,100 feet of climbing today.

i have been majorly slacking for the past month plus on riding. Hunting season and it getting darker/colder so much quicker have hurt the mileage.
I just setup the trainer again, so hopefully that'll get me motivated to start moving the pedals around in a circle once again. |

View Quote I've been sick so many times in the past few months, it's almost like a continuous mild cold/flu. Body aches, scratchy/sore throat, very mild fever, chills. I'm very high risk as far as Covid-19 goes, so I don't think something this mild is likely Covid-19. I may get tested, just to be sure. |

I'm not going to make my 2000 mile goal, but I'll get to about 1700. A decent year of riding. Mostly mountain bike. Hats off to you guys for making your goals. This challenge did get me on the bike more than I would have without the challenge, so that's great.
20 mph winds and 22 degrees in Gunnison, CO yesterday. Attached File Attached File Attached File |

I normally used a garmin forerunner 201 on my bike, just to get the miles ridden and speed.. When I got my bike out of storage to ride this year, I needed something, and enough recommended the Lezyne. so thats obviously what I bought. I didn't believe the totals the first time I checked it out, I had done over 700 miles. When the weather was good and I had the time, I just went for a ride. |
