22.6 today, 440 for the year now.

I really like the new I9 hubs. The carbon rims are kind of meh, they feel lighter to spin up but my speed the past two rides has been the same as on the old wider alloy rims.

Well finally got back from a 1500 driving trip around Texas.  I did bring my bike to ride in El Paso Sunday night...did a nice 47 miles which felt great after driving for 8 hours.

Back home in Austin tonight and tomorrow night is Driveway Series racing back on.  Reduced size pack of only 30...but it is a USAC race again.

I am looking forward to it.

Nice. Was not aware of that.

On vacation with the family up in the finger lakes. Hiked some trails in Watkins Glen with the family in the AM and rode around Keuka Lake in the afternoon.  So many vineyards up here.

53 mile both Friday and Saturday / 4255 for the year.

Did my Driveway Series last Thursday and did not race to my plan....I got greedy haha.  I got the first to Primes and only had three laps to recover for the final sprint and just did not have it in me....I got 8th.

My rear camera was working good...the front had a SD card error right before the race start...I have fixed that now.  Now I need to edit my video and post it on Youtube.

I get get a good video of the wreck on the last lap....the whole race was kinda dirty...too many people used to Zwift I guess.

Rode two trails today, one for the first time ever.

17.59 and 9.6 today, puts me over 500 for the year.

If the weather cooperates the rest of the month I will easily hit 200 for the month, which would be another personal record (at 162 after today).

23/1100

Was out for a ride on a new loop with my neighbor today.  He took 1 hand off the bars to wave a car around after coming out of a bend going downhill.  Was slightly looking back and happened to hit a small patch of gravel and then right into a small pothole.

He went down HARD.  Helmet was cracked in at least 5 places and had a small rock embedded in the one side.  He was unconscious for 1-2 minutes, and slowly came back to.

Police arrived pretty quickly after calling 911, we happened to be very close to the state police barracks; ambulance arrived not too long after.  His wife arrived to pick up his bike, which didn't look too bad for how hard he went down.  Looked like there may have been a bit of damage to the carbon by the crank where the chain came off and hit.  Had a few people stop, including other cyclists.

1st person I've ever seen go down while out riding.  Praying for a speedy recovery.

It was in slow motion, wasn't it?  My ride buddies have seen me crash plenty of times.

Re: earlier post...I grew up on/around Canandaigua Lake.  Don't get up there very often, but love the area.

Oh, and I rode 22 this morning to put me at 1001, so halfway to 2k goal.  Was hoping to have a little more buffer at this point.

17.9 miles this morning.

At 218.4 for the month (personal best) and 564 for the year.

Chance of rain the next 7 days so will see what happens - hopefully I can push that monthly best even higher.

It was like it was in slow motion.  He has a good sense of humor about it now.  He sent me a text with a link saying he had footage of his crash.  It was a .gif of a little kid falling off his bike.  Made me laugh a bit.  He had to see a concussion specialist, low grade headache still and his eyes are tracking right yet.

Congrats on getting to 1000 miles so far.  I've been slacking this past week.  Tweaked something in my right leg water skiing.  Going to try and take a nice easy ride after work today if the rain holds out.

52.2/4475  Rode around Lake Washington today.  Over the many years I never had done it.  So since I was in town I figure I get it done.

Maybe I will get to do my Mt. Baker climb later this week....well maybe just not sure if I have the time.

Ten days in Seattle.  I got some rides in that I wanted to do.  Around Lake Washington and Chuckanut loop up in Bellingham.  Now heading back to Texas, however it looks like racing is back on pause in Austin.  No Driveway for a few weeks it looks like.

Today was my biggest day of riding by far.

Buddy and I went to Chattanooga area for the weekend and had 40 miles today. Resting now to hit it again tomorrow.

5 Points (North GA) - 26.x miles on my GPS, 29.x on his (both Garmin). We started looking at the mileage difference and discovered my wheel sensor lost calibration and was off quite a bit so I trust his 29 is far more accurate as it is known calibrated.

Had lunch and drove to Bauxite. 11.5 miles there.

That's 661 trail miles for the year. Planning another 30 tomorrow.

The planned 30 only ended up being 20.8. Too worn out from the big ride the day before, and all that climbing both days.

White Oak in Chattanooga is awesome though if you get a chance to ride it.

This weekend at Port Aransas and wow hot as balls.  Did a 40 mile ride yesterday and I thought I was used to heat.

ended the ride with 92 deg, but the humidity made it nearly 105 or more.  Was insane, but finished the ride.

Attempted to switch out to road pedals.  Could never really get comfortable with the cleat position and new pedals so i swapped them back out to the clipless mountain bike pedals.  May mess around with it more in the wintertime on the smart trainer.

Finished 3 days / 190 miles in the mountains last week.  Didn't train enough, but survived.  I should keep up my fitness by riding more, but been busy, so not much time to ride.

Pic is at the start of the ride in Leadville, CO.  10,200' elevation at the start.  Lots of climbing.  Buddy ate a smothered burrito for breakfast and barfed it up towards the top of the climb!  I warned him....

Yep. Dammit Garmin.

23 today. 22 yesterday. In Arizona. In July.

No good idea on the total. I'm stepping it up, but I won't make 1k unless I really start stepping it up in the fall (which is unlikely, current job situation means I'm only going to be riding Sat/Sun).

Coming off my 2011 Cannondale Supersix it's a dream to ride. Makes me want to go out everyday and just put on miles. Going to bite the bullet in a $200 fit this week or next and hopefully get my position even more refined and hopefully minimize issues like Im having after that ride. Intend to do a century by end of August. I added a set of Roval cl38s with gp5000 in 28s and its a dream on the open road. Still waiting on my new cassette for the original wheels that are now running panaracer gravel king 38s. I really enjoyed riding before but kind of love it now.

Did a coffee ride this morning with a local team. One of the members was a 77yo gent who was about 145lbs. He was a hard wiry little guy with leather for skin. The ride was about 16-17mph average. Nothing major but   there were some moments on the flats at 20+ .  This guy kept up and pulled a few times. It kind of hit me that when my dad was this guy's age he was on his last legs.   I pulled up alongside of him and said " sir..you are a stone cold badass" he looked back at me and said " always have been"

I guess I pushed too hard and had to cut this week short due to groin pain.  This is day four without riding and my thighs still hurt a little when I stand up.  The groin is still tender but much better.  I had hoped to get back into it full swing on Monday but I'll just have to test the waters and see how it feels.

ETA:  I went all of day five without any pain or discomfort so on day six I got back on the bike and not only did I not have any discomfort, I set a new PR.  I guess the rest really did some good.

Don't forget to take some rest days every once in a while.

I've been debating on whether to get in on this and finally decided to take the plunge.

I'm recovering from deep vein thrombosis (blood clots in right leg) and bilateral pulmonary embolism (blood clots in both pulmonary arteries and lungs) but I've been testing the waters and found that I can still ride a bike.

Right now my riding is limited to nice weather days but as soon as Concept 2 has the bikeerg back in stock, I'm getting one of those so I'm not dependent on nice weather.

Since I'm starting later in the year and recovering from lung issues, I'm setting a goal of 500 miles for the year.  If things go well, I may bump it up to 1000 miles.

Goal 500 miles

Today I achieved my goal of 500 cycling miles for the year.

My cycling has mostly been on the Concept 2 bikeerg but I can say the difference between now and when I started (April 8th) is night and day.  My cardio-respiratory fitness right now is far superior to what it was before the blood clots.

1000 miles for the year will be challenging, but doable, if I can pace myself and keep my muscles/tendons/ligaments healthy.

Thanks to @slbrugby for starting this challenge.  It has been very helpful in keeping motivated.
