If you're on Garmin Connect, you can get a point for an activity on Thanksgiving and another for expending 300 kcals for an activity on Thanksgiving.

Been working on getting faster splits for each 500m interval. Slowly working the times down. Took me 18:59 to do all 5k. Took about 10-15s in between to grab water. Lately, I have been putting it on "Just Row" to get meters done.

This is basically what I do. I put it on just row and try to get whatever exercises I’m doing done before the computer shuts off. I did my 5k in 19:51 tonight. I actually went back and checked and my best time was 19:22 back in July.

ETA: Sub 19:00 is flat getting it. Nice work!

I hate to pigeonhole myself when it comes to doing intervals but 500m is just about perfect for putting out near max effort for the whole interval and then being able to quickly recover for the next interval. By the time I hit 4k I’m usually chugging pretty badly and have to think about keeping it under 2 minutes. Helps to have the right song playing, lol.

Yes, the 500m interval has been working out nicely. I would like to be able to add an interval every week for a few weeks, but with kids, time gets tight. I have been waking up at 0530 to get the workout in lately. I think I can get to 7500m in the morning, but after that, I'd have to wake up earlier or I will be up against getting the kids to school.

Good work on the sub-20 min. That's not the easiest thing to do.

Missed yesterday, 12/19, due to a water line freeze that a neighbor and I had to fix at 0530 in 12* weather. You can see my thread in the legal section about this situation.

So, 1M meters done for the year. Will still continue to row for Concept 2's Holiday Challenge. Have to get 16k more before the end of 12/24. So, some meters Saturday and Sunday and then finish Monday and Tuesday during the kids winter break from school. After that, just rowing what I can until 12/31 at midnight.

Thank you to everyone who put meters in this year and those following the thread. I don't think I'm going to start a challenge thread for 2020 as the participation was fairly low, which is understandable. A rowing machine isn't as widely accessible as a treadmill or bike, yet.

Special thanks and congratulations to @adamtheduke for sticking with it this far. Over 1/2 million meters is impressive with our busy lives and things pulling us 8 different ways.

Whatever your goals are for 2020, get after them and I wish everyone good luck.

Thank you

Good job man!

I’m going to just keep posting in this thread unless it gets shut down or someone starts another.

My wife gave me the cold/flu for christmas. I’ll get back at it in a couple of days.

I didn't join you guys in 2019 because the first 6 months I was out recovering from wrist surgery. Starting in june with really light pulling I put together about 175,000 by the end of the year.

Just in case this thread keeps going, maybe with a title change.
Jan 1, 2020. I did 3 sets of 3x500m with 30 second rests throughout my upper body workout at a 1:45 pace for 4500m total.

I’ve been feeling like I’m rowing through mud lately. I should have 4 free nights this week to hit it hard with a good break mid week on Wednesday. I think I’ve just had a hard time shaking whatever cold or upper respiratory infection I had between Christmas and New Years.

I’m shooting for 15,000-20,000 meters a week. That should have me done by June or July. I looked yesterday and our rower is at 1,113,000 lifetime meters which means my wife is coming up on 1/2 million in the last year.

Last night’s workout actually felt pretty great. I hung right around 2:00/500m for the first 4 intervals, finishing all 4 in 4:02 or less. With careful music selection I was able to dig deep and blast through the last interval at around 1:50/500m.

First time since being sick that I actually felt like I could finish stronger than I started.

Finished up with 3x 30sec on/30 sec off to get the last 500.

I’m getting ready to start a Starting Strength lifting program. I’m having a hard time figuring out how I’m going to balance lifting, rowing, life and sleep, but I guess I’ll have to learn on the fly.
