154 miles?  You might need a different kind of shoe; like stability or something.  I mean, just the fact that a shoe should simply last longer than that.

I'm gonna get away from Brooks.  I know a lot of folks love Hoka, so I may give them a shot.

I do have my old pair of Ghosts.  May do it in them. At least they're broken in. https://www.AR15.Com/media/mediaFiles/255354/Resized_20181129_092432_4080_jpeg-754999.JPG

You should be in new-newish shoes for a Marathon. Looks like those served you well, pick up a new set before the race.

I plan to grab a pair at the race expo tomorrow and make a short run to see how they feel. If I don't feel comfortable I will wear my Ghosts which only have 75 miles on them. I know it's my own fault, but I never even thought to check them. I mean, with 150 miles on them they should be good to go. I'll go into tomorrow with plenty of options and have it ironed out for Saturday morning.

I land in that exact spot an roll inward. I have tried to change but keep going back to it. The top ones have 154 miles, the bottom are around 75 miles. The newer Brooks just have a softer sole than the previous versions. I have had 3 pairs go over 400 miles prior to these.

Wow.  Now I know what you mean when you go through a shoe!  Must be expensive hobby for you?!?!?  I have over 1100 miles on my GTS-18's that look a bit more warn on the souls than you Ghosts (75 mile ones), but not ripped in anyway.  I've never seen anything like that.

Good luck in the race!!

Today I will buy my 5th pair of road shoes this year. I have a pair for treadmill running, a pair for trails, and a pair for roads. I did get over 500 miles out of some Pure Cadence.

Have you ever had someone anylize your gait and been fitted for shoes? I had a running store do that for me a long time ago. The shoes they recommended serve me well.

St Jude is done. If you've never done this race I would highly recommend it. Having kids with often terminal illnesses take time away from their treatments to come cheer you on is nothing short of amazing.  It's awesome to be an inspiration to them, when in reality they're the real inspiration

I am not a runner now, I am wanting to start running, outside of the fitness side as a way to help raise money for awesome places like this.

Im planning on doing some good running this coming year, adding it to my weight lifting routine. I know I wont run the same miles as the people in this thread, really going to be doing it probably 3 days a week to begin with, and different types of runs, hill sprints, HIIT style runs, and some distance, but beating feet is in the plans for sure.

Thanks! Actually,  i was thinking about going for 2,000 miles next year.  If i break it down miles per month like i did this year, i have a good chance of hitting that goal.

2000 was my goal this year, but I got behind early and couldn't make them up. Consistency is key, you definitely need to break it down monthly and stick to it.

Congrats to those of you hitting your goals and finishing races recently!

Took a couple easy weeks after my marathon, but for Christmas my MIL is getting me an entry to a marathon that's 16 weeks off, so it's back to heavier training now. Short, fast repetitions this morning to shake the cobwebs off.

2.41 / 2,824.88 Geez, the legs get stiff sitting in a chair all day after a workout!

Since I'm starting marathon training over again now I'll certainly hit 3,000. I wasn't planning on starting training until the New Year, in which case I don't think I would have gotten it.

I have been, and I'm on page 24 now. I'm taking a lot of the advice given to you and I'm going to start some running.

I'm down 40 lbs from May, and have kind of plateaued, and want to kick that going, as well as have a better conditioning and add to my fitness.

I'm in for 2019. Not sure I will hit 1K, but have to shoot for somewhere!

Having never run before, a chest strap heart rate monitor was the best way for me to really tell what an easy pace was for my body.

Nice, great job on the weight loss!! Running in an aerobic heart rate zone helped me drop 30 pounds since June. I've plateaued weight wise but am happy where I'm at.

Higher cadence eliminated all shin pain I had. I used a metronome app on my phone to slowly move up to the magical 180spm (it might differ for you). Then I figured out I have a slow pace and a race pace cadence.

Strava is a good motivation tool, be sure to join the group and local groups if you get on there.

Not sure if you listen to music or whatnot while exercising, but there's a podcast some of us love here called Ten Junk Miles. It's a funny and relaxed atmosphere of regular folks who run and talk about all sorts of stuff.

Hit 1 mile in a speed walk after my workout this morning.

I'm thinking about that 4 days a week, then 5-6 on a straight cardio day, to get about 10 miles a week, depending on what weekends bring. Spring and summer weekends should bring more miles hopefully.

I'm in for next year, probably at 500 to start, and absolutely nothing wrong with blowing that!

Of course after I mentioned my injury free running, now my right hip is throwing a fit. Guess I went too fast for too long the other night.

Going to take a couple days off then I have my honeymoon for a week. I want to be fully healed for my half in February.

Time for some yoga to stretch the hips out.
