Food is being "pushed" on us unsuspecting minions constantly. From the Basketball celeb's saying they eat Micky dee's to Dunkin Donuts.[rolleyes]Yeah, you make millions and scrape pennies up from under the drivers seat to get a SuperSizedHappyMeal[rolleyes]It's been suggested medicaly that the LESS you eat the longer you live a quality life.I know more folks OVERWEIGHT(by at least 20lbs) than I do underweight people.DAMIT!.....when I was young I lifted to get BIGGER and STRONGER.....now I lift to get more muscle(tone) + to burn more calories and do arobics to maintain the weight I am, and NOT GAIN. O' Im a size 48ish chest/36ish=waist=size L BDU's/195-200lbs(Laughinghystericallyicon) of ssteel/titanium alloy!

I am 5'11" and weigh 208. I work 5-6 hours a night on a freight dock. I want to get under 200lbs, but I want it to be the right 200lbs. I'm not too choosy about the end weight, just the end result of being healthy and in shape enough to prevent injuries at work. I work out, but not enough I'll be the first to admit. Ross

Although I'm not aware of a study that links eating less to a quality life, I do get your point. A typical American is probably going to die of heart disease. Try to avoid this. A typical nature/nurture example, body size. One may be cursed with a family history of obesity, or heart disease, (or a more dramatic genetic illness), but one must do all one can to increase the quality of life. Diet plays a role. Avoid McDonalds.

I'm 5'10" and 165. Anybody who wants to join me on my 10-mile run this Sunday morning is welcome. I could use the company! [flag] Seriously, 6 months ago I was 205. All of the extra weight was around my middle. I might try to do some strength training later, but I never want to weigh that much again. Too much work to haul it uphill. JScott

[img]www.members.aol.com/ericsorenson/OJ-HAM.jpg[/img] I tend to boycott products and businesses that use less-than-human shitbirds as spokespeople. I used to like McDonalds, Sprite, Ham and a ton of other stuff. I am a big POS...6'4"/270 lbs.

Guess I fall middle of the pack again, 5'11"/178. If I can get back to the gym like I used to, I'll work back up to around 190. Presenlty carry a 42" chest with a 30" waist

Hey JScott, I'm the same size as you, though I've never been more than the 175 I ballooned up to when I broke a leg two years ago. Finally getting back down to race weight (a few more pounds to go), but I find I'm way slower nowadays[:(]. How'd your 10-miler go? I did 10 as well and felt decent, though I got a late start and slowed down a bit the last few miles because of the heat. Planning to run Boston? It's a great event. Edited to add: Oh, I think I've got a 45-inch chest. Large T-shirts seem a bit tight a lot of times while XLs are loose. My 501s are 32/34.

I am 180 cm and 110kg. No, not much fat. Competition style bench without the shirt 200kg. Deadlift about 300kg, squat 275kg. I`ve been boxing for over 10 years but at this weight it is quite difficult because of big muscles. I used to weight 90kg at the time when boxing was more serious. Ps. Recoil is no broblem.

6' and 215, need to drop about 15 lbs.... and that used to be easy !! (38 now) You can live longer by eating less. A recent study linked being overweight with cancer, as are many other health problems. National Geographic had an article on this a couple of years ago. One of the researchers said you could live a longer life if you cut your calories way back. The researcher, knowing this, tried to do it and said he couldn't, the hunger drove him crazy. (They were doing it with animals and they did live longer...)

I believe you. They [b]only[/b] way I gain weight is by working out. I think 6 years of track & cross country (at 10-12 miles a day) in high school stunted my growth! I can eat anything, any time and not gain a single pound. I've weighed 138lbs since I graduated in '83. The only time I ever went above that was when I worked out at Nautilus for a year & a half. Made it all the way up to 158. As soon as I quite - right back down to 138lbs again.

Currently at 5-10, 180. 46 chest, 32 waist. It took me 3-4 years of hard lifting to gain 10 lbs. of lean mass!

I'm 6'6" 205 right now and about 10% body fat. I've found that the easiest way for me to lose weight when I was bicycle racing and trying to maintain 5% body fat was to restrict my calories late in the evening. I would eat a large 1200 calorie breakfast a moderate 800 or so calorie lunch then just a energy bar after work before training on the bike for a couple of hours. On the bike I would take in about 400 more calories of liquid carbs.

Two weeks ago I was 6'6" 252. This morning I was 6'6" 239. I'd like to get closer to 200-210. I have a pretty large frame, and once I begin to get closer to my target weight, I'm going to start lifting weights to make my upper body begin to match it (my legs are like tree trunks as-is). Working behind a computer desk doesn't help things. the_reject

Wow, I guess I am the fat ass on the board, 6'2" and 295. I had my BMI done, it was 31%, which means that if I had 0% bodyfat I would weigh 204. So if I had 10% (I think 10% is good, right?) BMI i should weigh 224. I guess that means I need to lose 70 pounds[shock] I had been working out and eating right for 4 months and lost 4 pounds [pissed]. So I am very discouraged. Oh well, the years that are being taken off my life are just the bad years anyway, right???

Think I beat you on that one. 6'3", and last time I weighed myself I was about 325. That was five weeks ago before I started my health thing....but I'd wager I'm still above 300. I apologize, but I'll be around on my fat-man scooter to collect that 'FatAss Award'...

What have you been doing? Even considering muscle growth, a pound a month is a tad low...what's your program?
