Sierra just announced this bullet today, and it will be awesome in Saum's  I had the chance to watch it perform last weekend at a match and it seemed like the G7 number on it should be around .355.

Neat.

Looks like my 1:8 6.5CM is a no-go for it though.

Last weekend I watch it run find to 1200 in a 260 running 2830.  A saum with an 8 twist would be fine.  Anything smaller might benefit from some extra spin.

I’m going to see if my 1:8 x47 will stabilize them close to 2700. The 147 g7 is around .335 and the 150 seemed to work out to about .355 at 1200.  It may be able to be pushed a bit harder though due to the short bearing surface.   The bullets are different shaped enough they really need totally different amounts of freebore.

I haven’t played with the 147s in about a year.  I got some and didn’t like the performance with the shorter freebore in my chamber.  The I’ve never run G1 bcs but I’ve found the hornady numbers are correct used in a banded bc but I haven’t been able to use the highest stated number out to distance.

Im not trying to make this thread about what is better or worse.

The 150 seems to stabilise fine out of an 8 twist at at least 2830.  The shape of it will require less freebore.   While it should work decently in smaller cases I think the PRC and saum will make it shine.

This is what I am hoping for, less pressure and longer seating, both to get more speed. I have not put mine in the barrel to check oal. Will tonight.

Have any of you guys tried RL26 with the 140 or 147 ELD-M?

I know it is supposed to be an over bore magnum powder but it appears a number of shooters are using it in the 6.5 CM if online reports are to be believed.  Very high velocity (+2900 fps range w 140 from reliable source at Nosler Forumn).  Dont know if it will be a barrel burner like RL17.  It does have a slightly lower explosion temperature than RL17 according to nosler source. (3990 RL17 vs RL26 - 3905).

I used RL 25 in 7mm RM for years so cant quite get my head around using RL26 in the CM.

I have just begun reloadiing for the CM and am starting w Norma URP and would be happy w 2725 as indicated by Hornady manual.

(24 inch Tikka CTR and Hornady brass).

Advice appreciated.

I've played with it with success in 6mms but not 6.5's.  I've heard mixed results in the 6.5s, but never tried it myself.  It is a great powder for speed in the 6mms

the Nosler reloading moderators just ran Quick Load for me and the 147 ELD in Hornady brass at 2.8 OCL should make 2,700 fps at 55,000 psi with RL 16 and 2,800 fps with RL 26.

Going up to 58,000 psi will get you an extra 50 fps with either powder.

About 100 percent capacity with RL16 and 104 percent with RL 26.
