I have shot this ammo vintage 1980 according to the headstamp through my M1A with good results.  With my Mossberg MVP LC it is all over the place.  WTF?

m1A > Mossberg?

Shoots really nice in my FALs.

Just shot it out of my Colt 901 and I am not impressed!

Different guns like different ammo. I have a grip of 55gr .223 ball that my AR loves to make little clover leafs with while my Mossberg MVP won't even put them inside 4 inches despite the fact that it'll put almost anything heavier than 62gr into a single ragged hole.

Why the surprise? It's military surplus ammo. Good stuff, but not match ammo, and not even up to most commercial ammunition available to us today.

But, I'm getting 2 to 3 inch groups at 30 yards from a bench.....

Different guns like different ammo.

When I use what hirtenberger I have for my Stg58, it shoots wonderfully to near practically sub MOA.

Using it on my m24 clone build and it shoots horribly.

twist rate is different maybe?

I will take that under consideration and next time will take my M1A out too and see if I can get better groups than the Colt.....

Take it for what it's worth. Some rifles just hate some ammo.

Why does my one AR, that generally shoots anything to it's price point, down to about 1.5moa, hate CBC m193? Damn if I know. 7-9" groups.

2 other rifles shoot the same box to 2-3" groups just like any other ball ammo.

The Hirtenberger groups better in the M1A than my Colt 901 but not much better.

It’s just ball ammo milsurp, but my SCAR loves the stuff. I’ve never shot it for true groups from anything else. Eventually I need to take out some of my more precision oriented .308’s and see how it goes.

My H&K's , Cetme's and Fals love the stuff.

If it was jamming, he should notice it on closing. If pressure spiked, he should notice it on opening. How do the barrel profiles compare?

2-3" at 30yds indicates something wrong with the gun or shooter. 0.6-1.3 is more like it.

Nothing wrong with me nor my rifle!  Winchester & Remington 150 gr PSP touch most of the time.  I just find it odd that several types of ball ammo won't get any tighter at a lousy 30 yards....

I bought a case of Malaysian .308.  Actually shoots ok in the 901.  I was surprised.  Guess their ammo is better than their TVs....LOL

Yep, my Hirt from '79 i think shoots great from my chrome lined 20" 1:12.  Groups hold around 1-2 moa.

Switch to my stainless 18" 1:10 and 2 moa is the absolute best i can expect.  It slso tends to shoot 4moa low and 2.5 moa left relative to the 178 eldx that i have my scoped zeroed for.
