So  I have been researching this new issue sniper rd for 7.62mm systems and found that for once..I'm already using something close to it. I'm referring to the powder choice of IMR4064.

I have been reloading with it for my bolt gun.. my M1A and for my Garand in 30/06.

Its been a good low cost powder that is always available. lots of data and recieoes and seems like a good workhorse powder.

I see where the MK316 rd is a 175 SMK being pushed by 41.7gr's. of IMR4064.

So while I wait another week until my barrel gets threaded for a little Bastard Brake...I'm going to load up some of this and see how it shoots.
I also picked up a 100 rds of Hornady 178 ELD-X and want to try that as a comparison. along with the 168 gr SMKs I already have loaded with 42.grs of 4064.

First time I have went above 168gr ...curious to see how it works.

Try Sierra's 175 TMK's too.

I use 42.0 in military weight cases  and the Hornady 178 hpbt in my gas guns, damn accurate load!

I am actually about to load up 200 or so mk316 clones. but I don't have enough LC cases, I do have 200 FC (FGMM brass) cases already resized and primed with FGMM primers.  I'm going to do a starting load at 41.5, and then move in half gr lots up to 43 and see if I can find a sweet spot for my gas gun or my M1a

Just got back from the range today to try them out...Was able to shoot the 10 rd I worked up... Wholly crap.... did my rifle like them.....one nice 5 rd cloverleaf about 3/4 across...

I would have taken a pic, but my bolt handle finally snapped of ( a whole other story) so I packed it in for the day.....

41,7 grs did the trick. So I'm sending the bolt out to get repaired, and while I wait... loading up some more....
