When it comes to scope rings and bases, is one better than the other?

Is there a reason to go steel over aluminum?

Are there issues with aluminum?

Been reading other threads on options. Seen suggestions for EGW, Seekins, Badger, TPS, etc etc. Some only make aluminum, some only steel, and some make both. Most suggestions seem to be whatever the poster has or likes. (which is normal)

I have yet to see a thread to address why choose one over the other. Seen post with people stating get xyz aluminum brand, they are "just as good" steel.

Looking for rings and base for a Remington 700 SA 308. Main use will be for target shooting and some limited hunting.
