Christmas came a little early this year for me - RWS built Mk13 Mod 5:

Also, here is the Mk13 Mod 5 issued sling detail in case anyone is interested (the NSN matches up with the issued sling for the Mk13 Mod 5 and Mod 6):

Thanks!

My first choice is the S&B PSR, but the medallion thing on top of the objective  bell bothers me. Maybe it won't bother me as much as I think it would? Who knows - its purely an aesthetic thing.

Strongly considering the NF ATACR 5-25x56 in its place.

I know there is at least one pic floating around of an AICS chassis Stiller Mod 5 w/ that scope.

Notice the date on your sling. Its recent production. I have a few oldgen used mk13 mod 5 slings and none of them have those tags. They have LBT and Eagle Logo tags.

Here are two versions of issue mk13 slings. A friend has one with a Red LBT logo tag as well.

Eagle Industries - Green hooks with black slips

LBT - Black larger hooks with brown slips

Interesting.

Curious about the one I got then - the tag has an NSN that matches Mod 5 and 6 issued slings (when I looked it up anyway).

Are these like custom runs that somebody ordered? Leftovers from a previous run?

Or made up?

think they are a run that gunbroker IvanDrago had made. Likely he put an order in with Eagle for the minimum number.

Without actually knowing, that would make sense.

Well, it's a nice sling anyway.

which mil spec version? They were run on all sorts of things. MK11'S, MK17's, M40's (fringe mirs ones), M24's, MK13 MOD 5, MK20 etc.

Just straight mil-spec stamped but second focal plane SFP, no army, no navy, and non F1, so I believe these are pretty old. I think I got the answer that I was looking for though: Mk11 Mod0/Mod2, Mk13 Mod5, M40a3, Mk14, and Mk12s.

The only Nightforce optic used in the Marines was on the XM3 (excluding recent Atacr contract).
The XM3 came with a 3.5-15x50 Milspec NXS. SFP with mildot.
They weren't used on M40s. Some took the S&B off the 40 and put it on the XM3 because the S&B was a better optic and already a familiarity with it.

Speaking of scopes (and specifically NF and S&B), how do the S&B PSR and NF ATACR compare?

Are they equal in terms of glass quality, durability, and functionality?

I have both and they're both phenomenal scopes! To my eye, the S&B might have slightly better glass, but it's damn close. Both scopes are extremely durable, turret adjustments are great on both as well. It's pretty much going to come down to the gun you're going to clone.

They are uncommon, but they were on some select m40's. I have seen a few other photos of them with MIRS REV B SA rails.

And another photo of a Mirs m40. Cant identify the optic, but the photo may have other clues.

End users in a specific community had numerous tracking issues with the PSR scopes(along with certain other issues), which directly led to a new contract which NF subsequently won. Whether you would have the same issues is impossible to predict. The ATACR is also correct for a Late Mod 5.

Need some optic info. I'm build a mk13 mod 5 on one of the Thoroghbred return stocks with IMUNS and Stiller Mk13 action. What are the correct scope and ring options for this particular set-up? I'm looking for specifics such as power, reticle, turrets, etc.
Thanks!

Scopes are on the first page but hasn't been updated in a while

Nightforce Mil-Spec 5.5-22x56
Nightforce Mil-Spec 3.5-15x50 F1 Army Mil Dot or Mil-Spec 3.5-15 SFP Mil Dot .25 MOA Turrets
Schmidt & Bender 5-25x56 PMII PSR & Pantone TReMoR 2 reticle (later models)
Horus 5-20x50 Falcon

Feel free to update or correct me.

Have also seen Steiner and Vortex on the Mk13, but I'm assuming those were personal buys or unit purchases?

There is a distinction in scopes used between the Stiller Mod 5s and the Remington ones. For right now the only ones seen on the Stiller for sure have been the Schmidt 5-25 PSR and the 5.5-22 milspec/Navspec, as the Stiller Mod 5s were Navy only, with limited use by MARSOC iirc. EDIT: and the above mentioned Vortex Razor Gen 1.

Finally got my MK13 Mod 3 built...took six long years and a headache dealing with a former smith in Indiana. It was finished by a former MARSOC smith and it looks great.  Everything except the can is correct.  I wasn't going to drop 2k on a KAC can that had fitment and re-zeroing issues, so I had Ron Allen build me a 3rd model for it.  They look the same on the gun anyway-minus the dimples and the gate latch.  Now I need to find a scope and fire-form some cases to load some 220 grain pills.  The chamber is turned for the MK248 Mod 1 round, so longer round stick-out/longer COAL.

Do the masses have any good leads on Nightforce scopes that have been discontinued? I finally get my rifle built and the scope I want to put on it is no longer made. I'm looking for the Nightforce C244, which is 5.5-22x56 with Mil-dot reticle. I've gotten a hold of Nightforce and even with the Mil program they won't make it for me. So, anyone got any good ideas? Leads? One for sale?

An early P-VPS prototype? Basically the ATACR with a beast-like turret.

That's exactly what the scope is, the SU-284. The mount is a NightForce Compact MAG Unimount MA361 (1.5" height, 0 MOA)

The two P-VPS scopes are the SU-295 (5-25x56) and the SU-296 (7-35x56)

Yes, exact same scope and mount combo as seen in the Mk13 Mod 5 photo. The rifle in this photo is the Mk15 Mod 1

The rifle in the background of this photo is another Mk15 Mod 1, but it has a S&B PSR scope in OPS AWP Gen 1 PSR rings. My Mk15 Mod 1 is set up in this configuration:

You said you have two of these S&B scopes as pictured below on the right.

I forgot to ask you - what is it exactly? Just a black PMII 5-25x56?
